Just having a argument discussion with DH. We've just binge watched Detectorists and I made a comment comparing it to Outlaws. DH was completely confused as he claims they are different actors. It's a while since we watched Outlaws (which we loved) but I'm 100% sure that Mackenzie Crook was in both. Even though Wikipedia tells me otherwise.

Is anyone else convinced that they are the same person?

I do have form for this - I muddle up Leonardo Di Caprio and Matt Damon, and Will Smith with Samuel L Jackson. I mean, I can visualise them in my head and know they look completely different, but on screen it's more challenging.

I don't really do it with women. Although Jessica Chastain and Amy Adams have posed a challenge at times.....

I have this problem with Ruth Wilson and Stefanie Martini. Watched Crooked House three times before I found out Ruth Wilson isn't in it.

Same goes for Emily Watson and Samantha Morton. I can't see any difference between them.

How are you with faces generally? I’m rubbish with men’s faces, not quite so bad with women I’d have no hope watching band of brothers or similar.

When I meet people at work I have to make notes (glasses/ balding/ fat face) etc (luckily mostly on Teams so I don’t have to worry about them seeing my notes).

I literally had to look this up the other day as I was convinced that Mackenzie Crook and Stephan Merchant were the same person. I even convinced myself that Mackenzie Crook appeared in Modern Family.
As an aside, do people consider Mackenzie Crook attractive? I can never quite make up my mind!

I watched an entire film once and commented to DH at the end that I thought Leo Dicaprio was excellent in it. It was Matt Damon. I've also done it the other way round. I don't think I do it with anyone else but perhaps I do and I just don't know!

In Schindlers List I always get Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes characters mixed up - they look the same in this!
