Just having a argument discussion with DH. We've just binge watched Detectorists and I made a comment comparing it to Outlaws. DH was completely confused as he claims they are different actors. It's a while since we watched Outlaws (which we loved) but I'm 100% sure that Mackenzie Crook was in both. Even though Wikipedia tells me otherwise.

Is anyone else convinced that they are the same person?

I do have form for this - I muddle up Leonardo Di Caprio and Matt Damon, and Will Smith with Samuel L Jackson. I mean, I can visualise them in my head and know they look completely different, but on screen it's more challenging.

I don't really do it with women. Although Jessica Chastain and Amy Adams have posed a challenge at times.....

I just spent far too long trying to work out the difference between MC and SM, which is a shame as i love The Detectorists so much. I do struggle to tell people apart. There are a handful of slim, pale, blond women at work who are all similar height and I thought they were one person for far too long.

Obviously not literally but what happens is that somehow two different people end up occupying the same space/storage location in my brain. It could be because they look alike, have similar names or some other random reason. Once it's happened they kind of overlap/get stuck together.

yes @MrsTwatInAHat that's exactly it. It's not even people who necessarily look similar, it's sometimes something about their mannerisms or the way they speak. I can't always identify it but its as though they occupy the same space in my brain. Thank you for articulating that.
