To find SIL's behaviour a bit odd.

I'll start by saying I have nothing against SIL. We aren't really friends but will have a chat at family gatherings. I'm perfectly willing to hear I am being PFB about this.
I'm currently pregnant with mine and DH's first baby. We had scans a few weeks ago and got some prints for both sets of our parents.
We posted the scan on FB to let friends know (I know this isn't the most popular thing on MN).
Today I went round SILs. I very rarely go to her house but she had packaged up some baby things for me. Which I am grateful for. However when I went into her utility room with her I noticed that she had my scan picture pinned to her noticeboard. Isn't that a bit strange? I was taken aback at the time so didn't say anything. Would this make you uncomfortable?

Is it possible that her mum made a copy for her ?

AloeNora · 15/01/2024 18:25

So you don’t mind your scan on SM for hoards you aren’t related to to see but don’t like
a future aunt putting a copy on her pin board.

The world has gone mad.

Would you rather she put it in the bin?

bombardelli · 15/01/2024 18:25

I think it’s sweet. That’s her nephew/niece! Is it the first one in the family?

When my sister got pregnant we were beside ourselves with excitement.

ShiteRider · 15/01/2024 18:25

In what way do you think this is odd?

SnappyDragony · 15/01/2024 18:26

I think it's quite sweet, actually. It's not like she went and framed it and stuck it on her mantlepiece 🤣

StopTheBusINeedAWeeWeeAWeeWeeBagOChips · 15/01/2024 18:26

Your baby is so lucky, she sounds like she's going to be a loving, and doting aunt.

BoohooWoohoo · 15/01/2024 18:26

I’m intrigued why she picked the utility room.

Calamitousness · 15/01/2024 18:27

She has a scan picture of her brothers baby in a private family space. It’s nothing to do with you. It’s her brother I presume that she cares about and therefore will care for her new nephew/niece to be. What’s wrong with that.

Spirallingdownwards · 15/01/2024 18:27

That's a nice thing. It shows they are excited too. It's you that is the SIL who is behaving oddly.

yeah ..... actually

Wakemeupwhenlifestarts · 15/01/2024 18:27

I had a scan of my niece. OP you are the one who is weird for thinking that it’s weird.

I've got one on my mantelpiece right now!

sprigatito · 15/01/2024 18:28

Is she your husband's sister? I don't see anything sinister about it, she's going to be an auntie and is excited. Why put a negative construction on it?!

tulippa · 15/01/2024 18:28

Did you ask how she got hold of it?
If PiL passed it on then what would you prefer? That she keeps it in a drawer?
If she proactively made her own copy from the one you gave to PiL then I can see how that would be a bit weird.

MillicentRogers · 15/01/2024 18:28

How is that odd?

It shows she cares and is looking forward to being an auntie.

Why do people have to look for things to nit pick?

Laiste · 15/01/2024 18:29

So - she printed it off herself or it's MILs copy?

(hunting for reason for it to be odd)

MermaidEyes · 15/01/2024 18:29

BoohooWoohoo · 15/01/2024 18:26

I’m intrigued why she picked the utility room.

It's pinned to her noticeboard which is in there.

GymOClock22 · 15/01/2024 18:30

It was a print out. It wasn't a scan on photo paper. MIL's is framed. I think she printed it from Instagram.

Maybe she felt bad for throwing it in the bin? I do this with wedding invites. Usually the info is online, or I just take a photo of the details. I then feel guilty for chucking it away as people have spent a lot of time and money on them so it goes on the notice board in the boot room until I have a clear out.

I find it more strange sending people a baby scan or putting the scan on social media.

Justcallmebebes · 15/01/2024 18:32

No, it's fine. It's your PFB but also her neice/nephew so maybe she's excited.

If she's throwing darts at it then that may be a problem

lazyarse123 · 15/01/2024 18:32

I don't get it. You put it out there for the world to see. Wouldn't be something I'd do but then I don't see the point in other folks scan pics.
Be glad she's interested.

bluechicky · 15/01/2024 18:34

Don't put it on the Internet if you want control over what people do to it.

ExplodingZebras · 15/01/2024 18:34

I think this is sweet.

She probably printed it to show her dc aswell as being something nice for her to look at too.

StripeyDeckchair · 15/01/2024 18:35

Are you sure it's your scan?
They all look the same to me - black & grey fuzz, how anyone can tell anything from it is beyond me!

scrivette · 15/01/2024 18:35

Maybe it's her scan?
