To find SIL's behaviour a bit odd.

I'll start by saying I have nothing against SIL. We aren't really friends but will have a chat at family gatherings. I'm perfectly willing to hear I am being PFB about this.
I'm currently pregnant with mine and DH's first baby. We had scans a few weeks ago and got some prints for both sets of our parents.
We posted the scan on FB to let friends know (I know this isn't the most popular thing on MN).
Today I went round SILs. I very rarely go to her house but she had packaged up some baby things for me. Which I am grateful for. However when I went into her utility room with her I noticed that she had my scan picture pinned to her noticeboard. Isn't that a bit strange? I was taken aback at the time so didn't say anything. Would this make you uncomfortable?

But why is it bothering you?

sprigatito · 15/01/2024 18:54

I know everyone on here will lie and say the OP should be totally happy with this, they wouldn't mind at all, it's sweet, you obviously have a problem with SIL already to have this sort of negative reaction etc etc et-fucking-c

However - I totally agree that is WEIRD

You really think we're all lying? Why?

How do you know it’s yours? They all look the same to me!
Also you post this very personal picture on social media so all bets are off.

Edited

Presumably it has her name on it?

BricksTricks · 15/01/2024 18:55

I would have been touched or delighted if any of our siblings or in-laws did this. Actually, I think my sister did print a scan sent from whatsapp, but it was in her home office from memory, she was trying to do the girl/ boy guess 😁. Lucky baby to have a loving aunt, and i cannot understand why you aren't delighted. Have a word with yourself OP, this is your true shared family; embrace them or cause yourself issues in life for no good reason.

MakeEasy · 15/01/2024 18:55

I am almost a bit embarrassed of how over the top happy I was about my first niece. Can this not be explained by genuine excitement about becoming an auntie?

2chocolateoranges · 15/01/2024 18:55

I would find it a bit odd if someone went to the effort to print out my scan picture .

Skybluecoat · 15/01/2024 18:55

You are definitely being precious about this.

Don't put it on the Internet if you want control over what people do to it.

And to add to this, don't put pictures on the internet which contain all your personal details 🤦‍♀️

*which I presume you have, if you're so confident it's yours.

Mrgrinch · 15/01/2024 18:58

Well that's what happens when you post something on social media. It's no longer yours and oeople are free to do what they want with it. Let that be a lesson for when your child is born.

Spomsored · 15/01/2024 18:59

She's excited about her brother's baby? Explaining about babies and pregnancy to her own DC? Do you have pictures of her DC around your home or are you too self-absorbed?

You 'know everyone here will lie'?

Seriously, because you have a different opinion everyone else must be lying?

Blimey, how do you get through a day with that attitude?

Bouncyball23 · 15/01/2024 19:02

She wanted a copy just like your parents did not strange or weird you never give her one so she printed out the public one you posted.

Laiste · 15/01/2024 19:03

Is this your husband's sister?

Or your husband's brother's wife?

Or your brother's wife?

MeMyBooksAndMyCats · 15/01/2024 19:03

You posted it on Facebook for the world to see, why is this so different?

SquigglePigs · 15/01/2024 19:04

It's her first niece/nephew - she's excited! If my SIL had done that I'd have been delighted that she was clearly looking forward to being an auntie.

If it was a pattern of behaviour I could maybe see it being uncomfortable but I'm assuming it isn't or you'd have mentioned it.

Snowydaysfaraway · 15/01/2024 19:05

One pin or lots of pins.....?

AhBiscuits · 15/01/2024 19:06

No it wouldn't make me uncomfortable at all. What's the problem with her doing that? Maybe she was talking to her kids about their new cousin and she printed it to show them.

Why do you think people are lying? Or is English not your first language?

BlueGrey1 · 15/01/2024 19:10

I think it’s sweet as-well, she must be thrilled about it but is possibly the type of person who Dosen’t show her emotion very well

CurlewKate · 15/01/2024 19:12

What do you mean "uncomfortable"?

SpongeBob2022 · 15/01/2024 19:12

I think it's odd to snapshot and print someone else's baby scan picture from social media and put it up in your own house. I'm not judging particularly, I just don't think this is usual practice!

Unless your MIL gave her a copy and she felt weird throwing it away? Like a pp, I'm a bit like this with wedding invites/thank you cards etc.

pizzaHeart · 15/01/2024 19:14

I wonder if she printed it out to show to her DH or kids and then put it as a reminder to pack baby things for you, hence the utility room.

Vettrianofan · 15/01/2024 19:14

BoohooWoohoo · 15/01/2024 18:26

I’m intrigued why she picked the utility room.

I agree, mantelpiece would have been better.

NoKnit · 15/01/2024 19:19

Am I the only one to find framing scan pictures just a little bit odd?

Susuwatariandkodama · 15/01/2024 19:22

My bil put my scan photo on his wall, he also posted it to facebook, he was just super excited about becoming an uncle, I thought it was sweet.
