Hi, I’m stuck with what to do! Wondered what everyone else is up to?
I know some people don’t like it. Feel like we need to do something to make it special for the children. Whereas I’d be happy to watch a movie at home and relax.
What’s everyone else got planned?

Take away, film, fireworks on TV at midnight, bed.

Pretty much all we've done since we had DC.

LangMayYerLumReek2024 · 28/12/2023 15:37

Extended Family, steak pie, clootie dumpling, booze, board games and watch the fireworks out the window at the Bells.

Deargodletitgo · 28/12/2023 15:38

Kids with their dad so off out into nearest city for a drink or two and a dance.

Toomuch44 · 28/12/2023 15:39

I'd be happy to collapse at home as I have a long day at work and know I'll be tired. However, we going for a curry with two others couples and then to ours to see New Year in.

AliasGrape · 28/12/2023 15:42

We still have one of my relatives staying since Christmas. We’re going to the panto in the day with DD, said relative and my in-laws. Should get home about 5ish then just food at home. DD is only 3 so will probably do a pretend countdown for her and then debatable whether the rest of us make midnight to be honest.

Mumofyellows · 28/12/2023 15:44

Cooking a nice dinner- steak and dauphinoise with a home made cheesecake and steaks for the dogs! Daughter is heading back to Uni on Saturday to do out with her friends up there, so just the two of us having some champagne, dinner and a box set.

Lemonademoney · 28/12/2023 15:46

Steaks at home with a bottle of something lovely and a film (not sure what yet). Oh and posh chocs.

Even in my twenties when I loved going out I always found NYE a bit disappointing (much preferred Christmas Eve for a night out), so more than happy with my quiet night in.

ilovesooty · 28/12/2023 15:58

Going to friend's house. Dinner and games. There'll be 7 of us.

aintnospringchicken · 28/12/2023 16:10

Will be staying in with some wine and nibbles. Probably watch a film then if I can stay awake until the bells, will watch the fireworks from an upstairs window.
My days of going out in the town or first footing round various houses on hogmany are over.

elQuintoConyo · 28/12/2023 16:11

Similar to ilovesooty friend's house with DC same age as ours. We're doing a homemade escape room - which I've yet to plan 😬 better get on that! YouTube karaoke, charades, great food, sangria de cava 😍 and we'll wake up on 2nd January!!

itsgettingweird · 28/12/2023 16:14

Panto mid afternoon. Home and Chinese take out whilst watching The last leg of the year.

PumpkinPie2016 · 28/12/2023 16:18

We never really do much NYE - I'm not a fan really, never have been.

We have one DS who is 10. So, I will make something nice for tea, probably a film and some games.

May or may not make it to midnight to bring it in 😂

WickedSerious · 28/12/2023 16:19

Staying in with gin and Toblerones.

Nothing. It's just another day to us. I can't be arsed with it anymore.

Caroparo52 · 28/12/2023 16:23

A barn dance. Went well last year. Quite painless

ICanSeeMyHouseFromHere · 28/12/2023 16:24

I try to take the kids up some hill somewhere to watch the fireworks across the city - depending on the weather, that may be a hill we walk up, or may be a hill we sit in the car at :)

My eldest really likes a bit of atmosphere, so I'm hoping the weather is nice enough that we can go walk to one of the spots people gather and count down together.

Crotchet and/or a jigsaw. Won't be staying up late though, I want to be up early on NYD.

Going to the pub with family and friends, then we'll go back to mine at 11.30 for our usual Hogmanay party, where more friends and family will arrive prior to midnight.
Then it's eat, drink and have fun until you collapse.

Ihateslugs · 28/12/2023 16:36

Zilch!

Justcallmebebes · 28/12/2023 16:36

Babysitting GC's and not v happy about it at all

AmazingDayz · 28/12/2023 16:37

lone parent so staying in with the kids like every other night

andHelenknowsimmiserablenow · 28/12/2023 16:40

Early dinner out, then home for a bottle of red in front of the fire.
Probably stay up just long enough to see the New Year in and hear our neighbours fireworks.
