Hi, I’m stuck with what to do! Wondered what everyone else is up to?
I know some people don’t like it. Feel like we need to do something to make it special for the children. Whereas I’d be happy to watch a movie at home and relax.
What’s everyone else got planned?

Party at our house as usual. This year it’s my daughters 18 th as well.

DeeCeeCherry · 28/12/2023 16:46

Out with DP, going to a New Years Ball. Looking forward to it

2024betterBebetter · 28/12/2023 16:49

Buffet tea then usually put some music on and we have a mini disco with the DC, watch a film to calm them back down, then the DC like to stay up to see the strike of midnight.

PonyPatter44 · 28/12/2023 16:51

Party at a friend's house - really looking forward to it tbh!!

Calabou · 28/12/2023 16:52

Going out for lunch so we can be back at home well before the evening chaos. Not sure if we'll stay up until midnight, even if we do, new year is such a non-event anyway.

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 28/12/2023 16:57

Party at a local pub, live bands and a big group of us going including dd1 and her boyfriend. Dd2 has declined and is sleeping at her friends.

Neena86 · 28/12/2023 17:02

Working all day then going home and maybe watching a movie with a takeaway. Work nyd too so nothing too rock and roll unfortunately 😁

EdgarsTale · 28/12/2023 17:03

Out at a local pub with friends, then back to our friend’s house to see in the New Year with a buffet & drinks.

lone parent so staying in with the kids like every other night

Bless you- That was my lot for many years- and when son was old enough to go out with friends and I ventured out - I was glad to get home again.
Too many pissheads.
I willbe in with dog and stove on!

LegoLady95 · 28/12/2023 17:07

Party at our house like every year. I know lots of people don't like new year, but we love it. As the kids get older they really look forward to it as well. It's probably my favourite night of the year. I would not be interested in going out and paying silly prices, or queueing for drinks, so a party at home with others who enjoy it (all local) is perfect. I actually enjoy NYD cleaning up and getting the house pristine after Xmas and new year.

Racingadmin · 28/12/2023 17:07

Afternoon will be cooking a big ,stomach lining roast for young adult dc and their boy/ girlfriend before they head out to parties

Dh and I will celebrate at midnight Maldives time (7pm) with bubbly and a baked Camembert while watch some standup comedy. Probably in bed by ten as I have to head to work at 6:30 am

EwwSprouts · 28/12/2023 17:11

We;re doing a curry and games night with friends. All DC are now young adults. When the DC were primary age we would have a meal around 7pm, fireworks at 9pm and then go home.

Hocuspocusnonsense · 28/12/2023 17:12

Three children aged 8, 7 and just turned 5. Movies, popcorn and nibbles, watch fireworks on tv, bed.

I remember when NYE meant a night out clubbing, getting home at 6am and having sex! How children change things 🤣

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 28/12/2023 17:14

We’re going to my sister’s house with my parents. Normally, we go to my parents’ house, have a takeaway and just chill. Not really into a big New Year’s Eve.

girlfriend44 · 28/12/2023 17:18

Panto in the afternoon.
At home in the evening. Usually see the New Year in with the fireworks on TV.

Hoglet70 · 28/12/2023 17:19

Wine and the TV, might be awake for the bells, might not. DS is away with his mates somewhere so this year I can happily not bother. I feel a bit guilty as DH does like NY but I can't be arsed.

MissMoo2222 · 28/12/2023 17:22

Takeaway from the Indian earlier in the day and then we'll play family board games, have some party food laid out and a few drinks for the adults then all bring in the new year together and youngest (10) straight to bed followed by us not long after I hope.

Favouritefruits · 28/12/2023 17:23

We are going to try the new Hickory’s smokehouse and we will be in bed by 10! We don’t normally do anything but fancy a night not cooking so booked a table, we are all very keen to try it!

Tryingtobeanokmum · 28/12/2023 17:23

Party with inlaws

starynightskys · 28/12/2023 17:27

Im doing the same as i did for christmas NOTHING.

tinytemper66 · 28/12/2023 17:27

Not a lot as I will be driving to London the next day...

supersop60 · 28/12/2023 17:27

Ideally I'd be at home with wine and a takeaway.
I shall actually be at the house of DPs friend, probably with a number of his other friends that I won't know, being jolly and making conversation. Too much hard work.

WontLetThoseRobotsDefeatMe · 28/12/2023 17:29

We've been ill with the flu / covid / who knows what horror since the 20th, so I'm hoping to be well enough to go out for a curry and come home for a whisky before bed! Will be the only activity we've managed over the break, so fingers crossed.

widowtwankywashroom · 28/12/2023 17:29

Having a colonoscopy for suspected lower GI cancer!

StragglyTinsel · 28/12/2023 17:29

I will be doing bugger all. Going to bed early with a book most likely.
