Saw a friend tonight who came over, and when she did we both got a bit peckish but it was after dinner time. So I suggested a bowl of cereal (cereal is so much better in the evening) and our cereal of choice was weetabix.

She was nothing short of horrified at the amount of weetabix I placed in my bowl.
I had 4.. 4 weetabix. She had 2. IMO there's 3 mouthfuls to a whole individual weetabic..

I have been known to polish off 6, one time, but that was to replace an evening meal.
My toddler DD has 2 and she's more less than half the size of me! I've always had a pretty good metabolism and a very healthy weight etc.

Anyway, AIBU in having 4 weetabix. How many do you have?

2 but I couldn’t bring myself to eat it for supper, or dinner.

  1. And I’m not shy about eating huge portions of many things. Except salad, tiny portions only of salad.

There was a guy on the radio he went to a restaurant and took on some kind of eating challenge and ate a massive steak, sausages, ribs, chops fried eggs, If you finish everything the meal is free, he failed and they charged him £50 for his dinner as he couldn't bring himself to eat the salad it was served with.

4 is too many. It’s just stodgy. My step kids will eat 4 but then nothing of any nutritional value all day because they are so full.

2 is the maximum imo.

I have to be honest I've woken up and I'm not hungry at all for breakfast this morning so yes they are incredibly stodgy!

No regrets though. They were great.

Mate, you do you, I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Benibidibici · 22/12/2023 09:14

They are 135 calories each according to the info in the box. 4 is over 500 calories plus milk,

No - its half that. Its 67 calories per weetabix, a serving is 2 which is 135.

Denimdenimdenim · 22/12/2023 09:17

Occasionally, I'll have 3. But I can never finish it.

Cold milk with sugar

MisgenderedPaul · 22/12/2023 09:17

They're tiny nowadays. About 70 cals each. Fill ya boots!
I don't like warm milk, so I have mine with boiled water on the top, and a bit of cold milk around them like a weetabix island.

Apologies you are correct! So 4 would be 270 which isn’t too bad!

zingally · 22/12/2023 10:28

My bowls only fit two. Honestly, I'm full after two.

Got to say, I agree about evening cereal being superior to morning cereal. But I'd rather have rice crispies or cornflakes. To me, Wheatabix is definitely a morning-only food.

sidesplittinglol · 23/12/2023 08:13

It's 2 for me and with hot milk. Cold Weetabix is vile

PuppyMonkey · 23/12/2023 08:20

4 Weetabix, hot milk, WTF am I reading? Shock

Hot milk is the only way

I was in hospital last year and they had weetabix on the menu for breakfast, so I ticked the weetabix box.

I was appalled when it came along and it was ONE weetabix. How is 1, on its own, an adults size portion for breakfast.

Calamity.

Because one weetabix is a ‘portion’ of carbs.
And 7 portions of carbs is the recommendation for women, 8 for men.

A lot of food manufacturers shrink what they claim is a portion to avoid having to change the amounts or variation of ingredients, so that they can claim a portion is healthy.

It's why when you look at the boxes, a portion is something like half a pringle or a quarter moon jaffa cake. It's also why McDonald's burgers have that flimsy piece of lettuce.

BrightGreenMoonBuggy · 23/12/2023 09:03

I have two. I’m slim but I don’t have large portions of anything really.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 23/12/2023 09:08

I don't really eat cereal any more. It would never have been something I'd have chosen as an evening snack. In terms of portion though... I can't imagine eating more than 3. Not because I'm a restrained eater, just because it's hardly moreish, is it? Bland cardboardy flakes that turn to unappetising mush in milk!

educatingrati · 23/12/2023 09:13

Nah, don't like weetabix, but grape-nuts with double cream and a teaspoon of crunchy brown sugar on the top with a splash of full fat milk is the food of the gods, as well as insta heart attack and tooth rot, but hell it's good!

lesdeluges · 23/12/2023 09:19

Someone I know is a prison officer. He tells me that weetabix and cereals are prisoners snack food at night So handcuff me now!

2.5 weetabix is perfect. Night or day, with vanilla protein powder and cold soya milk.

Gettingcolder · 23/12/2023 09:20

One or two with cold milk and sugar as an occasional evening snack before bed. I prefer meusli or toast for breakfast.

SallyWD · 23/12/2023 09:26

OK, I'm really not a competitive undereater. I have a big appetite! But there's no way I'd eat 4 weetabix after dinner! I don't eat anything after dinner.
I would however have three weetabix for breakfast, if I ate cereal. I prefer toast. Will often have three slices of toast or three crumpets for breakfast.

Pandagirl10 · 23/12/2023 09:26

A normal portion of weetabix for me is 2 - then a sneaky third (or fourth 😱)! Summer is cold milk winter is hot milk - both with sugar. Yummy!
However cereal (all/any cereal) is nectar to me! I love it - but can’t trust myself with it. I struggle with my weight anyway and a box of cereal disappears in no time! Any time of day!
when DC were little I bought those little selection multipack things thinking ‘well, surely I wont steal breakfast from the children?’
Ummmm, 2 days later all boxes gone! (Late night snacks! ) Man, those portions in those little boxes are TINY!
(And I’ve got a box of cornflakes for Christmas - wrapped up under the tree, for myself! 😍)

Fairylightfurore · 23/12/2023 09:31

2, I don't think I have ever had more....

Zanatdy · 23/12/2023 09:33

2 max

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 23/12/2023 09:39

Hot milk?

What abomination is this? Are you making gruel?

erikbloodaxe · 23/12/2023 09:40

I have a special dish used only for weetabix. It fits five in perfectly so I eat five. Ice cold milk AND sugar sprinkled on the top.

My brother would have 8 for breakfast in a mixing bowl when he was a teenager.

People have different appetites.
