Saw a friend tonight who came over, and when she did we both got a bit peckish but it was after dinner time. So I suggested a bowl of cereal (cereal is so much better in the evening) and our cereal of choice was weetabix.

She was nothing short of horrified at the amount of weetabix I placed in my bowl.
I had 4.. 4 weetabix. She had 2. IMO there's 3 mouthfuls to a whole individual weetabic..

I have been known to polish off 6, one time, but that was to replace an evening meal.
My toddler DD has 2 and she's more less than half the size of me! I've always had a pretty good metabolism and a very healthy weight etc.

Anyway, AIBU in having 4 weetabix. How many do you have?

No judgment here. I once celebrated the end of a pre-Christmas diet with a midnight binge involving tinned sardines and three kinds of breakfast cereal.😱

SparklyMularky · 22/12/2023 07:27

It's really fucking weird. I have them in 3s so 4 isn't an option. Probably also weird.

I'm also a big fat pig so none of this "I couldn't possibly eat all that" while looking at a mouse's portion.

sashh · 22/12/2023 07:59

I worked with someone from Brazil, he used to eat them like toast with butter and jam on - now that IS odd.

blackberrychutney · 22/12/2023 08:13

I have two, then crumble the third into the bowl. Freezing cold Milk and a sprinkle of Sugar. I have to eat them quickly so they're crunchy, can't stand them once they get mushy!

MyLadyTheKingsMother · 22/12/2023 08:18

Two, warm milk, banana sliced on top, drizzle of honey.

Would never eat them for supper. Mind you, I don't eat supper 😂

Cosifantutrifrutti · 22/12/2023 08:21

I have between 3 and 4. 2 is a tiny portion - even my 3yo has 3 for breakfast!

LizzieSiddal · 22/12/2023 08:26

They are 135 calories each according to the info in the box. 4 is over 500 calories plus milk, seems a bit excessive for a snack, unless you’re on your feet all day and need the calories.

phoenixrosehere · 22/12/2023 08:28

2 drenched in milk until absorbed, add sliced bananas, a bit more milk then stir.

Blackeyeliner · 22/12/2023 08:32

Always liked the look of weetabix but can't stand them! When my kids were tiny toddlers they'd have 2 for breakfast so 4 is perfectly fine for an adult!

rainpleasestop · 22/12/2023 08:33

2 if it's the morning, 4 if I was having an evening snack and was very hungry. Of course with full fat milk and sugar (lots)

Elphame · 22/12/2023 08:37

Two here with cold milk but I don’t think I’ve eaten them since I was a student.

I’m not a cereal fan

Edinburghguy · 22/12/2023 08:37

I make the kids weetabix and the problem with them is how much milk they soak up!

You would need a pint for just 4.

Nap1983 · 22/12/2023 08:40

2 with a Banana and cold milk. I could eat more, but dont as always on a bloody diet lol

Im surprised at Folk giving 3-4 weetabix to young kids, my DD is 15 and is full after 2. Its overfeeding IMO

Malarandras · 22/12/2023 08:42

None now as pregnancy sickness put me off them. But when I did eat them I had 2 at a time. There’s only so much cardboard like substance I can eat in one go frankly!

muddyford · 22/12/2023 08:42

Three. They have shrunk over the years, like most things.

PersephonePomegranate23 · 22/12/2023 08:45

I don’t eat weetabix but I think the suggested serving sizes for cereal are absurdly small.

The serving sizes are ridiculous. It's all a marketing ploy so they can plaster a low number of calories per serving on the box.

ImCamembertTheBigCheese · 22/12/2023 08:47

Growing up 2 was enough but I suspect like all other foods they have shrunk over the years!

Susuwatariandkodama · 22/12/2023 09:05

Just 2 for me, you just need a lot of milk for 4!

ShittingPeugeot · 22/12/2023 09:07

For everybody surprised that weetabix was on offer for a snack to my friend, she's my best friend, we see each other all the time and just hang out in our jarmas together.

She'd come round unannounced (well 5 minutes notice) hours after jd had dinner. She lives walking distance away so we often just go round to each others houses.

If it was a planned visit, or anyone else, I'd get the cheese board, port and caviar out.

But weetabix itched the scratch last night.

That is a lot of cals for a snack I didn't know that, oops.

Fuck it, it's Christmas

I was in hospital last year and they had weetabix on the menu for breakfast, so I ticked the weetabix box.

I was appalled when it came along and it was ONE weetabix. How is 1, on its own, an adults size portion for breakfast.

Calamity.

3 because I feel like 4 is being greedy (my mother conditioned me to eat nothing - didn't really work but the thought is always in my mind that I'm a pig, she would be aghast at me having 3!) but I could easily eat 6. OH always has about 6, he doesn't care what anyone thinks.

Youcannotbeseriousreally · 22/12/2023 09:10

4 is too many. It’s just stodgy. My step kids will eat 4 but then nothing of any nutritional value all day because they are so full.

2 is the maximum imo.

mammabing · 22/12/2023 09:11

2 and a banana

Benibidibici · 22/12/2023 09:11

Ive only ever eaten two and i have a pretty healthy appetite, no massive salads here, i love a carb.

DS (7) would happily eat four but he is a stick thin growing boy with a bottomless stomach.
