I have a friend with an 18 month old daughter with her husband. They often post photos of her/them all as a family on social media, and I rarely seem to see this friend anymore but I know they have bought a new build home and her husband is in quite a senior position at work. They posted a picture of their daughter yesterday and wrote a caption: "We are so blessed with our jobs to be in a position to provide you with absolutely everything you need and so much more!" I just think it's a bit showy-off, yes it's not a big deal but it's kind of boasting that they earn well, and that it's only monetary things that matter/mean you can provide.

Why does being happy mean you need to tell everyone how happy you are?

I don't think the OP sounds bitter, just has a sense of what is appropriate to say out loud/post on social media and what is better kept in your head.

Yeah it’s more embarrassing for them. I have found though that people who give the impression they earn lots actually don’t really earn that much more than average. So they compensate buy getting lots of material things.

I doubt the OP gives two hoots what the child gets for Christmas. The OP is commenting on their SM behaviour, which is boastful and crass, not how much they spend on their child. Unless I'm mistaken.

I think you're right. Which would mean that people who are poor, jobless, homeless etc are not good deserving people. And that explains a lot of the callous attitudes in our society towards those people.

Her friend might be happy, but she needs to read the room and think about people who have to decide between eating and heating and can't afford presesnt for their kids.

Does she not care how she is making them feel? If not, then she is a self-centered twat.
