Bradley Walsh sexism in the Chase

So a female contestant said she worked at a university medical school and Bradley asked her “have you got a background in nursing”.

Bet he wouldn’t have asked a man that!

Funnily enough if she had a background in nursing she’d be more likely to work in the nursing department! Which will not be part of the medical school.

Also…..He really messed up with the Londonderry/Derry gaff!!! Ages ago.

Chickenkeev · 04/12/2023 17:40

Bradley is a bit of a fossil in terms of comedy. Caught between two stools etc. The TV company should have him better schooled. It's not like he has to do that much!

CormorantStrikesBack · 04/12/2023 17:43

Well she just won 91k in her first Chase!

That’s a researcher that hasn’t done the job properly. Questions and background are all provided for him.

Alargeoneplease89 · 04/12/2023 17:49

Why don't you think he would have asked a male the same question? I find he just asks random stuff to make conversation.

CormorantStrikesBack · 04/12/2023 17:55

Because I think it’s far more likely he’d have asked a man if he had a background of being a doctor. Not a nurse.

The man wet himself when the Olympian Fanny Schmeller was one of the answers and intellectual he is not

Phonedown · 04/12/2023 18:03

Its been noted in our house that he tells way more men who under perform in their cash-builder, "You're a better player than that mate", than women. It annoys me and every time I have to say "how do you know that Bradders?", to the TV. So yes, he is guilty of (probably) unconscious bias at best.

You’re assuming, very unfair to start a thread about someone based on what you think he would be likely to ask. You don’t know what he would of asked

What a ridiculous thing to bother your head with!Bizarre!

DownNative · 04/12/2023 18:31

penjil · 04/12/2023 18:20

What was that?

Walsh asked, "The Bogside is part of which Northern Irish city?"

Contestant: "Londonderry."

Walsh said it was wrong and that it was "Derry".

There's only one official legal name for the city - Londonderry. So, it was actually correct and Walsh was incorrect to say it was wrong. 🤦‍♂️

SawX · 04/12/2023 18:31

Well, did she?

Exactly. He seems to have the humour level of a 7 year old. Anything that hints to bums etc and he's crying with laughter. He's an idiot. I don't see the appeal at all

Nonoatchristmas · 04/12/2023 18:34

I’ve always thought he was from the jokes he makes about Anne. Frosty Knickers, I mean for fuck sake what era are we living in. I know they all play a ‘character’, but the women are referred to by how ‘feminine’ they rate, it’s all a bit 70s isn’t it.

I know someone who went on The Chase, they didn’t not think too highly of Bradders.

To be fair, it’s about the level of ITV intellect. Just look at This Morning and what’s considered ‘hilarious banter’.

Depends who you ask…

There was a young woman on a few weeks back who was from such and such a place but was currently from X (big university city). Brad asked her if she was at uni there. Turned out she already had a degree and masters and was working at the university in some important role. Brad just made an assumption she was a young student.

He didn't mess that up. He knew exactly what he was doing

Pinkpinkpink15 · 04/12/2023 18:45

Anne Frosty Knickers

it is a bit '70's, but it's a lovely change from all the 'new' crap quiz/game shows..

ExTheCheater · 04/12/2023 18:46

I like him but he's said stuff before that I was surprised about. It was a comment about how woman would obviously know the answer to a question about baking. I was like wtf.

DurhamDurham · 04/12/2023 18:46

He's only a few steps away from a 70's comedian. They'd have loved him back in the day.
He's becoming increasingly outdated.

Cosyblankets · 04/12/2023 18:47

I like the programme and i like him. It's lighthearted. But then I'm not looking for offence at every opportunity
