There's no need for it!! Just go to the bathroom, pub toilets to do it.

Some c*nt has done this to me right now. There's fuck all wrong with him that stops him from moving away from his table to do it-I've known him for years and there's no reason he couldn't retire to the toilet to do it.
It's just fucking rude and turns my stomach.

Even my aunt-who is usually reasonable- does this. I can't go out for family meals anymore if she's present as it's a habitual thing.

Blowing your nose into a tissue is a perfectly acceptable public act. The snot is going into the tissue so it isn’t going anywhere else.

I'd go away to do it if it was likely to be snotty/noisy (DH sounds like an elephant) but just to stem a sniffle or runny nose from coming in from the cold- no. You'd barely notice and wouldn't hear anything.

No! Blowing your nose into a tissue while people are eating is gross, no one wants to hear the bucket load of snot coming out while you have a forkful of food half way to your mouth.

Go to the bathroom or if you have a cold that bad that it meant you'd be up and down every 5 mins then stay at home!

I‘m exact same as you, cannot stomach it at all. Even had a friend blow her nose in front of me at a cafe then LOOK in tissue afterwards. Fuck that. We‘ve not had coffee together since.

There are countries where blowing your nose in public is unacceptable. The UK isn’t one of them.

It's a million times better than someone not blowing their nose and just sniffing.

I've offered tissues to strangers on trains before in a pointed attempt to get them to blow their nose. Never been bothered by someone blowing it.

you can hear snot when people are continuously sniffing though - arguably more so - why I find sniffing more annoying.

As PP have said, in the UK it is not considered bad manners to blow your nose in public like in other countries.

Well that’s a ‘you’ problem ain’t it. People need to chew their food, some might make noise. I hate hearing people swallow drinks, it sets my teeth on edge, but I’m aware it’s a ‘me’ problem and I get over it because I don’t want to sit in a restaurant being a miserable bugger because other people function as normal humans

No, nose blowing is fucking disgusting, not sniffing, which I don't judge as I presume the person doing it has a cold. At least sniffing keeps it internal, at least until the person uses the loo. Nose blowing results in a hanky full of snot that then needs disposing of, in a bin, in landfill. Keep your snot rags, thank you.

Sniffing is an irritant that can be solved by blowing your nose. I never understand why people sit sniffing snot back up, knowing it will come back down, when there’s a very simple solution in finding a tissue.
