People who blow their nose...

... while you're sat at a restaurant, home dining table, etc eating a meal are fucking disgusting.
There's no need for it!! Just go to the bathroom, pub toilets to do it.

Some c*nt has done this to me right now. There's fuck all wrong with him that stops him from moving away from his table to do it-I've known him for years and there's no reason he couldn't retire to the toilet to do it.
It's just fucking rude and turns my stomach.

Even my aunt-who is usually reasonable- does this. I can't go out for family meals anymore if she's present as it's a habitual thing.

I'm not talking about capturing an errant sneeze in a tissue BTW.

Yeah I'm probably being unreasonable but capable adults should just fuck off and blow their noses out of sight and sounds of those that are eating.

If it involves something exiting your body it is best done in private

Best go live in the toilet then, all that carbon dioxide you're exhaling is disgusting!

SweetBirdsong · 23/11/2023 16:05

YouJustDoYou · 23/11/2023 14:08

Calm down love. It's not like they're taking a shit at the table. It's fine to blow your nose in public in this country.

😆LOL!!

Yeah @Carmargo YABU - a bit. You're within your rights to be annoyed, but people should entitled to blow their nose in public. Better than sniff sniff sniffing. That's like ARGH!!!!! Angry

DH annoys me (sometimes) when he blows his nose though, because there's nothing there. It's like dry blowing! I think he wants attention. Like 'me pooooorly, me got cold '(sniffs) 'wah wah wah feel sorry for me. (sniffs again!)

TheGhostILoveTheMost · 23/11/2023 16:12

You would hate me!
Hot food for some strange reason, makes my nose run. Even if I went to the bathroom and came back, as soon as I start eating it will run again, sorry but I wouldn't be going to and from the bathroom for your sake I would eat between nose wipes.

YireosDodeAver · 23/11/2023 16:16

Yabu and ridiculous. Blowing the nose is a perfectly normal thing to do. So long as it's all caught by a tissue no one needs to go into a private place for it. If it bothers you that much I think you need some specialist counselling to help you get over it. Like having a pgobia of the colour yellow, it's not reasonable for you to expect society to change to declare the thing you can't cope with as unacceptable.

cardicoat · 23/11/2023 16:16

I have allergic rhinitis and blow my nose in church.

WhosAfraidOfVirginalWolves · 23/11/2023 16:19

It amazes me that some people on MN are able to leave the house.

pickledandpuzzled · 23/11/2023 16:21

To the anti sniffers…

I sniff because I can’t blow. During a cold my sinuses are so inflamed that blowing doesn’t really happen. I can dab repeatedly but sometimes just have to sniff. Generally I go somewhere private and do a major sinus clearing exercise, but occasionally I will have to sniff.

pacora · 23/11/2023 16:23

I have seen worse than this. I have on several occasions seen someone blow their noses in the paper napkin then leave it on the restaurant table. How gross is that? Poor waiter/waitress who has to deal with that.

MrsMarzetti · 23/11/2023 16:30

At least they blew their nose, it is far worse when the continually sniff, or as the females do here, touch the tips of their fingers to the tips of their nose and slide their hand up towards their forehead therefore wiping their nose on their fingers and palms, bloody disgusting.

Cazaletto · 23/11/2023 16:32

Sniffing implies a constant risk that the snot is about to run out of their nose, and it goes on and on and on.
Blowing means it’s tidily caught and binned.

The day my kids successfully learnt to blow their noses was arguably better than when they mastered toilet training.

BringMeTea · 23/11/2023 16:33

Reserve your wrath for the sniffers. I applaud nose blowers tbh. (literally if they'd like)

thetworonnies · 23/11/2023 16:35

I hate it too. Not sure who decided sniffing is bad but blowing nose is fine - both pretty grim to listen to imo.

Back2front · 23/11/2023 16:36

I'm with you. Always found it disgusting. I always thought it was a generational thing with younger folks not doing this in public but I could be wrong. It's gross.

OneTC · 23/11/2023 16:54

Fair play OP you've unlocked a new level of mental

junbean · 23/11/2023 16:56

I'm the same way. I also can't stand sniffling. I just don't want to have anything to do with someone else's mucus! They also need to wash their hands after, so it needs to be done in a bathroom. I always walk away to blow my nose and if for some reason it's absolutely unavoidable, I apologize profusely.

Clytherow · 23/11/2023 16:57

I honestly don't know how some of you manage to get through your days, you must exist in a permanent state of apoplectic rage. I thought I was intolerant but seriously....

marshmallowfinder · 23/11/2023 17:03

It's not as annoying as people who say 'you're sat/I'm sat', instead of 'sitting'. I barely notice nose-blowing be honest, although I get very frustrated by people coughing constantly without covering their mouth.

YoureALizardHarry11 · 23/11/2023 17:07

It’s distinctly better than not blowing your nose at all
and having green snot streaming from your nose in front of other diners…

Yes, maybe not pleasant to hear but I couldn’t get this worked up about it. Has the person got to go all the way to the loo to blow their nose for 5 seconds then go back to the table? Sounds ridiculous to me really.

DilemmaDelilah · 23/11/2023 17:10

I have gustatory rhinitis, which means my nose starts to run whenever I eat, so I have to blow my nose. It's only a little blow though - not a snotty one - but better surely than having my nose running?

Megifer · 23/11/2023 17:12

So go to toilet to blow nose

Then go to the toilet to go to the toilet

Then go back to blow nose

Repeat throughout the day/evening.

Nope.

littleblackcat27 · 23/11/2023 17:14

You’re a fucking weirdo OP

HTH

silverchain · 23/11/2023 17:23

I have a condition that means I have to blow my nose regularly throughout the day, every day, permanently. I can’t leave the house without tissues. If I went out of the room to blow my nose every time I needed to, I’d be up and down like a yo-yo!

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 23/11/2023 17:43

I think it's best you stay at home if you cannot cope with the rest of humanity being perfectly normal.

genesis92 · 23/11/2023 17:45

If people are really badly congested and snotty it's not something they can help. I think you need to get over yourself.

I've never known anyone say they have an issue with this before

Grimchmas · 23/11/2023 17:47

WhosAfraidOfVirginalWolves · 23/11/2023 16:19

100% this.
