AIBU to be in bits over an episode of Bluey?

I have teenage kids so this show wasn't on my radar until one of the kids favourite YouTubers did an episode on it. For anyone who doesn't know it's an Aussie pre-school cartoon. I just watched 'Babyrace' which is about competative parenting. I was pretty blubbery when one of the mums told Bluey's mum, she was doing great. But the last line 'May be she saw something she wanted...' totally finished me off. I think I need to watch them all now. It's on Disney Plus in the UK.

if that one had you in bits do not watch onesies or sleepy time

wineandmaltesershappyme · 15/10/2023 20:32

Faceytime and granny mobile are fab!!!

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 15/10/2023 20:34

My fave episode is pass the parcel. Just makes me laugh so much. I love Lucky's Dad. And I love Grannymobile for the humour.

Baby race gets me everytime. Its just so true of most first time parents experience.

MammaTo · 15/10/2023 20:36

First time I seen that episode I sobbed.. Sleepy time has me a blubbering mess and the one where they go camping I think and we see grown up/teenager Bluey.

Sleepy time is a work of art

Love Pass the Parcel - each time one of us comes home from taking the kids to a birthday party, the other just says "Lucky's dad's rules?"
And Shadowlands - each time DD tries to change a game so she'll win the whole family shouts at her "you can't change the rules Coco!"

Takeaway feels most like my life, though.

Colinswheels · 15/10/2023 20:38

Bluey has made me both laugh out loud and cry several times. I recently found myself getting excited when I realised there were new episodes out, and then mad when the kids started watching them without me!!

OneForTheRoadThen · 15/10/2023 20:40

I had a cry when Juno's mum cut off her long fur

I did Lucky's Dad's rules at our last party and it was carnage......... we did calm it down when we shouted loudly it's Lucky's Dad's rules!

Reminds me of the Christmas me and my sister sat and sobbed at Old Jack's Boat on CBeebies. Everyone sat round laughing at us but it was so touching!!

Oh the one with Sailor Sue had me sobbing more than once!

Tulipmonster · 15/10/2023 20:42

This one. I find I have something in my eye every time I see it (which is quite a lot…)
(Bah - this was supposed to be a response to the poster up thread who mentioned the one where Chilli and her dad are sat on the jetty)

WomanHereHear · 15/10/2023 20:45

Yep it’s sleepytime for me

Rosemaritia · 15/10/2023 20:46

@Ohwhatfuckeryisthis we watch Bluey and Ds1 is 20 years old.Honestly it is the best tv show, you don't need young children for it. Ds now totally gets all the effort we put in as parents.

Also sad that apparently the cast of Bear couldn't go on after the actress who played Luna died. It got shelved and it never made another season. That song also makes us cry.

@Prettydress have you seen that every time Chilli is looking for the next step she misses that Bluey is always putting her arms up to her Mum? Makes me sob.

rainyskylight · 15/10/2023 20:49

I cry without fail at Babyrace, Sleepytime, Onesies and I get a bit emotional at Flatpack and Grandad. I find Babyrace actually a bit difficult to watch at the end.

My DH cries without fail at Charades... because his nan was the nicest nan there ever was.

PurpleFlower1983 · 15/10/2023 20:50

Bluey is amazing!

LimeCheesecake · 15/10/2023 20:52

The one with grandpa on the dock with chilli - dh was sobbing watching it with dd.

the cricket one had half the Australian cricket team /commentators sobbing

the sleepy time one gets me. The takeaway is really just life with little kids.

pretty sure they are all on the iplayer. It’s truly beautiful.

Unithorn · 15/10/2023 20:52

Sleepytime is genuinely one of my favourite episodes of anything ever.

The line from Sleepytime was read at my daughters funeral 😭

I'm so sorry for your loss. That's made me feel emotional. I hope that those lines bought you some comfort.

We don't have them all in the UK yet but a friend sent me a sneaky link for the cricket one and it's definitely one of my top 3 episodes so I'm excited to be able to discuss it more once it finally makes its way over to Disney Plus in the UK.

Moonbowlspoon · 15/10/2023 20:57

Bluey is the one kids show I’d probably watch even if I didn’t have DD (assuming I’d been aware of it).

That said, some episodes of Hey Duggee are great, especially Chew Chew the Panda!

Mumsgirls · 15/10/2023 21:04

Got,into Bluey with my dgc 3.
What I noticed is the parents are such fun, especially the Dad. Sounds silly, but they are role models

Someaddedsugar · 15/10/2023 21:09

I watch Bluey regularly with DS (6y). I think it's amazing and fully agree with pp re there being something in every episode that sums up parenting universally. DS must feel it too as there are episodes (Sleeytime, Baby Race, Rug Island) that make me feel very emotional even if I'm not showing it and at the end of the episode DS will always reach for my hand ❤️

ScruffGin · 15/10/2023 19:54

I love baby race, to be honest they're all fab, although my right hand has been "Shaun" for about 8 months now, every bloody night, which I've had enough of now😂

MARP MARP

I love Unicorse the best. 'Aaaaaaaaand why should I care?!'

TryAgainWithFeeling · 15/10/2023 21:13

Bluey is so incredibly well made. They’ve gathered and represented so many experiences of parenting that we can watch them and realise the beauty and challenges and stress and opportunity are universal. I would genuinely put Sleepytime as one of my all time top ten episodes of TV ever. Maybe top five.

Hibiscrubbed · 15/10/2023 21:14

Bluey is truly magnificent. I belly laughed at ‘Fancy Restaurant’ when they were trying to get Chilli and Bandit to smoochey kiss. Bandit eats the pile of rank food the kids make and Bluey says at the end, “well, they’re not smoochey kissing, but she is rubbing his back.”

It is the perfect balance of for kids and for adults.
