AIBU to be in bits over an episode of Bluey?

I have teenage kids so this show wasn't on my radar until one of the kids favourite YouTubers did an episode on it. For anyone who doesn't know it's an Aussie pre-school cartoon. I just watched 'Babyrace' which is about competative parenting. I was pretty blubbery when one of the mums told Bluey's mum, she was doing great. But the last line 'May be she saw something she wanted...' totally finished me off. I think I need to watch them all now. It's on Disney Plus in the UK.

How do you watch Bluey in the UK for free? I’ve seen a few episodes on YouTube but do you have to pay if you want to watch them all?

Brbreeze · 15/10/2023 20:14

Babyrace, Grandad and Onesies.
All have me in tears. I think I cry more each time I watch them.

BeeCucumber · 15/10/2023 20:14

My granddaughter loves Bluey. Every time she sees me she shouts “I slipped on mah beans Rita” and dissolves into giggles. Love her so much ❤️

Somewhatchallenging · 15/10/2023 20:16

It’s on BBC.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 15/10/2023 20:16

I've just watched Baby Race too!

IHeartGeneHunt · 15/10/2023 20:16

I'm going off Bluey but the Flat pack one gets me.

Oysterbabe · 15/10/2023 20:16

I've cried ever single time I watched baby race. My DD was a bum shuffler and very late walker. I worried so much about her.

Bluey is amazing & the Sleepytime episode is a work of art! My kids laugh and I cry like a baby 😊

Same!

Banjojo · 15/10/2023 20:17

You are not being unreasonable - that last line in Baby Race gets me every time. I get something in my eye!

Do you have a TV licence? It’s on BBC. Can’t remember if it’s CBeebies or CBBC.

TheGoogleMum · 15/10/2023 20:18

I love Bluey! Baby race made me cry thefirst time too

Eumie · 15/10/2023 20:19

Pass the Parcel is so funny! As a younger sibling I love Squash.

I cried the most at Babyrace though, and in The Show there is a subtle reference that gets me every time!

YOOHOOHEYITSME · 15/10/2023 20:19

I had to make pavlova for our Canadian Thanksgiving last week. The young grandkids love Bluey and saw the program about pavlova. Hadn' made one in years!!

Tarkan · 15/10/2023 20:20

My DC are 19 and 15 so when I started babysitting a friend's 1yo recently I decided to see what the fuss was about. I find it better to watch without him now. 🤣

I cried at both Babyrace and Onesies (DC are from a previous relationship and DH and I couldn't have a child together).

Faceytalk and the barbecue one when Bingo keeps knocking Bandit's drinks out his hand are two of my favourites. And Hammerbarn has my favourite moment ever when the gnome (Bingo's "husband") falls and breaks and Chilli snaps and yells "this is what happens when you're unhappy with what you've got. Someone's husband eventually gets it!" I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe the first time I saw that. Grin

YokoOnosBigHat · 15/10/2023 20:20

Wait til you find out the backstory between Chilli and her sister Brandy. You're gonna need a bigger box of tissues.

LividGas · 15/10/2023 19:53

Wait for the S3 one about Chilli’s sister.

Especially if you have BEEN that sister and will never believe your eventual miracle.

That episode is done in such a lovely way.

Reminds me of the Christmas me and my sister sat and sobbed at Old Jack's Boat on CBeebies. Everyone sat round laughing at us but it was so touching!!

My DP still mentions that episode, and he isn’t soft or sentimental at all 😂

HobnobsChoice · 15/10/2023 20:24

Onesies is one of the most thoughtful episodes of TV I've seen.

The episodes that sum up parenthood perfectly for me are Sticky Gecko and Puppets. Sticky Gecko had me wondering if the production team was filming in my house. Puppets the line when Bandit says "the thing is I do this to myself"

Moonwatcher1234 · 15/10/2023 20:25

Oh yes, they know how to tug at the heartstrings and sometimes it just hits out of the blue (pardon the pun). For some reason, Jean luc saying “hello bluey” at the end of camping makes my eyes leak- I think it’s so good at capturing the trajectory of time for us parents and how universally we feel it deeply.

Cakecakecheese · 15/10/2023 20:26

Sleepytime is the one that gets me. Shaun had me in hysterics the other day.

AliasGrape · 15/10/2023 20:26

ScruffGin · 15/10/2023 19:54

I love baby race, to be honest they're all fab, although my right hand has been "Shaun" for about 8 months now, every bloody night, which I've had enough of now😂

My hand is also Shaun and it’s getting old.

On the other hand DH gets called Diddums a lot, usually in public, and because I’m a terrible mum and wife it makes me laugh heartily every time.

I had mixed feelings about Bluey to be honest, but I’ll take it over DD’s current obsession of Minnie Bastard Mouse. And yes Onesies, Grandad and Bluey did make me a little emotional on the first watch. Sleepytime always gets a lot of love but, maybe because sleep is still such an ongoing issue here, it just stresses me out.

AndrewGarfieldsLaptop · 15/10/2023 20:26

The line from Sleepytime was read at my daughters funeral 😭

Sleepyteach · 15/10/2023 20:27

Sleepytime always gets me, especially the end when Chilli says “I’ll always be here for you even if you can’t see me” and early baby, even though DD wasn’t a preemie it’s still emotional.

Tarkan · 15/10/2023 20:28

I forgot another favourite. Pavlova

My friend and I randomly shout the French phrases from that at each other.

Où est la discothèque?

Je veux la fenêtre!
