Enjoyed watching the documentary, he was different than I expected him to be, not sure how really, but I have more respect for Victoria now as I think their lives have been about what he wanted/needed mainly
There are rumours of lots of affairs, is this true though as I find that hard to believe, he seemed so obsessed with her

A lot of Greeks have the same first and surname, or very similar. It’s to do with naming after grandparents. You can easily have a Charles Charles or Pavlos Pavlou or Andreas Andreou. I know several.

Yes. He seems like he's be the kind of guy who'd always do the right thing.

Like going to a photo shoot with superstars when his wife is about to give birth.

Surely that wasn’t true. Surely it’s a wind up.

dayswithaY · 07/10/2023 23:03

All these people falling in love with Gary Neville, this so called man of the people was quick enough to take a ton of cash from Qatar last year. Along with Beckham who spent years promoting himself as a gay icon then cosied up to a regime who are offended by the mere sight of a pride flag.

Money grabbing hypocrites, both of them.

Oblomov23 · 07/10/2023 23:04

Finished watching it tonight. Can't understand why it was made. It didn't tell me much I didn't already know. All it's done is drag up the Rebecca Loos thing again, which had toned down in recent years, but now is back again. Plus RL commented thus week. So how is dragging that back up at all helpful?

foxlover47 · 07/10/2023 23:09

@derxa same for me I loved seeing the interviews with Carlos and Figo etc

SomeoneKidda · 07/10/2023 23:12

No idea about their relationship. The programme wasn't an 'insight' - it was a curated and meticulously planned puff piece. Who knows what their life together is really like?

What I find challenging with anyone - famous or not - is using kids on social media, making their childhood experiences transactional events, and denying them privacy. It's a bloody rotten thing to do and the Beckhams are all over it.

JustWhatWeDontNeed · 07/10/2023 23:16

Haven't read full thread so sorry if it's moved on, but I thought he came across terribly.

Selfish. Very selfish. I'm amazed Victoria didn't ditch him long ago. It seems she spent years trailing after him, then he thanks her by fucking someone else cos he was "lonely" in Spain. Do fuck off.

I had no idea idea about all the other affair and child rumours Confused he sounds a right treat.

Even at home he seems to spend most of his time outside scrubbing a grill. I think he's checked out. His busy football career probably suited him just fine, giving him a part time marriage.

Pumpkinoutfitsgalore · 07/10/2023 23:27

@JustWhatWeDontNeed Yes, I was surprised when he said he spends Saturday from early morning until the night alone in there 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pumpkinoutfitsgalore, I didn't think autism (you mentioned your mum thought DB could be autistic earlier) but definitely anxiety and perfectionism.

Pumpkinoutfitsgalore · 07/10/2023 23:43

@BumbleShyBee No, VB not David 🤷🏻‍♀️

Keeping huge news from people like that is not normal

Well, a lot of people hold off telling their partners they are pregnant for a few hours. I waited to tell my partner I was pregnant until he got home from work - some 8 hours after I found out. Not for any cryptic reason but simply because I wanted to tell him in person and not on the phone.

JMSA · 07/10/2023 23:58

I like him. He seems fairly humble. I work with teenage boys who think of themselves as 'thick', and my heart softened when he said 'I wasn't intelligent at school. Surprise surprise'.

Well the family do seem to join him for parts of it! I thought it looked lovely and I'd happily spend the day out there myself. Is it any different to going off golfing or cycling or to a match for the day? He is definitely a little obsessive in his ways but perhaps they are all tolerant of his figaries by now, we all have them!

Let’s just agree to disagree, shall we?

I don't have a problem with people thinking it could possibly affect his game negatively, but you said how anyone can disagree is beyond me 😅

It shows a serious lack of understanding of human psychology, many sports psychologists would probably take the approach of limiting distractions etc. presumably studies/experience shows them that that is likely to have the best outcome on the team members as a whole..........but likely to have the best outcome doesn't mean it's always the best way at all for individual people because there are so many individual differences.

Panaa · 08/10/2023 01:43

luckylavender · 07/10/2023 07:37

@Whatafustercluck - they had been together for a year, he was 23 on the biggest stage in the World under immense pressure. She had absolutely no need to tell him the moment she found out. Call me condescending all you want.

You know she had just turned 24 herself yeah?
And would have had her own experience/understanding of pressure on the world stage considering the Spice girls were ridiculously famous.

Give it up already.

I think it was unquestioningly the wrong thing to do.

I would not have done it.

Who cares - it happened nearly 30 years ago!

So what if you think you wouldn't have done it?

You don't know what you would have done anyway seeing as you weren't VB and weren't in the biggest band in the world at the time and weren't with DB.

Funny how you say 'who cares - it happened nearly 30 years ago' even though you're literally discussing it right now and making out she shouldn't have told him 😂

GodDammitCecil · 08/10/2023 02:14

I did say let’s agree to disagree. But you keep banging on.

Why?

Lemony5 · 08/10/2023 02:35

I think you should just be happy that they are living their lives with their family etc and you should live your best life too with your family / friends and not concern yourself with what others are doing.

Panaa · 08/10/2023 02:48

@GodDammitCecil
Just because you're going on like your opinion is facts, and only said to agree to disagree when challenged 🤓Also because of your 'give it up already' and 'who care's, it happened 30 years ago' (once you'd shared your own opinion multiple times) comments 🤓

You don't get to control when other people stop discussing, you can only control your own behaviour 🤓

GodDammitCecil · 08/10/2023 02:49

My opinion is fact. 🤓

No, opinions don't work that way 🤓

decionsdecisions62 · 08/10/2023 06:15

It was raised a number of times in the documentary that VB didn't seem to care too much if she affected DBs emotional state just before a game. GN discusses how at another time he had to tell DB to get off the phone as she was frying his brain just before the game. It's probably no wonder AF didn't speak to her. Any other WAG doing that would have probably been hauled in and given a stern talking to. However she was just too big a celebrity herself so wasn't.

GodDammitCecil · 08/10/2023 07:18

Interesting @decionsdecisions62. So bizarre that she would do that……

JMSA · 08/10/2023 07:19

I agree that Gary Neville came across really well. He seemed to have good values and an excellent work ethic.
Rio Ferdinand made me laugh when talking about the team's 'shit, baggy suits' Grin
