Enjoyed watching the documentary, he was different than I expected him to be, not sure how really, but I have more respect for Victoria now as I think their lives have been about what he wanted/needed mainly
There are rumours of lots of affairs, is this true though as I find that hard to believe, he seemed so obsessed with her

I’m with you all though on the Gary Neville love!

He’s become so much more attractive the older he’s become!

ChChChCherryBomb · 07/10/2023 15:36

sorry about the double become!

LunaNorth · 07/10/2023 16:22

That is a quality chant 😂

TheLongGloriesOfTheWinterMoon · 07/10/2023 17:34

😂 just when you thought you couldn't love the Nevilles more. ❤️

Dalriada35 · 07/10/2023 18:36

Agree.

AreYouShittingMe · 07/10/2023 18:45

Another one sharing the Gary N love.
I found it all very interesting. Definitely not a 'documentary'. I just saw two very strong minded, hard working people who have found ways to make loads of money. They clearly both have a similar approach to life.
They both hit the public eye young, and have some horrible things said/ written about them. It struck me that this has just motivated them further to do what's best for them in terms of career choices. It takes someone brave to stand up to Sir Alex, especially as DB had known him such a long time, which demonstrated to me DB doesn't appear to care too much if people don't like his choices in life, (including at times his wife!)
I can't say I'm too fussed about how they choose to live their lives, but I would be unreasonably upset if DB's queuing up to pay his respects to the Queen after she died was just about getting good publicity. He seemed very genuine at that point.

Carpedimum · 07/10/2023 19:25

I enjoyed watching it, but with the knowledge that he is DESPERATE for a knighthood, and has been livid that he has so far been overlooked. The whole thing is setting out a particular image that he is a high achiever and deserves more recognition.

MrsPetty · 07/10/2023 19:37

I thought he came across as really selfish, quite mean about his wife and they neither confirmed not denied the affair. Which has always been their line … even at the time. I have always somewhat believed that it was a publicity stunt. They made headlines for weeks and weeks … and that’s all they really care about. They sold out their kids for Brand Beckham … no blurred faces for that family. They talked about ‘the circus’. They created the circus and alerted the press continually. He apparently did have an affair with a teacher at Harper’s school. A super large pay off and a NDA…together with a deal to continually bank roll VB’s fashion folly.

AhNowTed · 07/10/2023 19:44

@MrsPetty @Carpedimum

Totally agree.

DESPERATE for a gong, and sold their kids privacy a long time ago.

I managed 10 minutes and had to turn it off because it was soo boring.

Some people must have really dull lives if they find that tripe interesting!

I think you should've given it more time - you must have short attention span

derxa · 07/10/2023 19:58

Loved it but then I love football. Interviews with former footballers and managers were brilliant. Couldn't give a stuff about affairs

luckylavender · 07/10/2023 06:35

@Whatafustercluck - condescending? Nope, that's my opinion. In the women's World Cup a few weeks ago the Spanish footballer who scored the winning goal had lost her father a few days before & she wasn't told until after the final. That's how it works. My grandfather died when I was doing exams at University & I wasn't told until I'd finished. That's what normal people do. It's not difficult to understand.

Do you not know the difference between good news and bad news?

Also plenty of people will be told about family deaths during exams, so saying keeping it from people is what normal people do is bullshit. People do what they think is best.

GodDammitCecil · 07/10/2023 03:15

It was a complete amateur mistake.

And unbelievable of her to tell him minutes before a game like that. It couldn’t have waited 2 hours?

How must he have felt going out there with that life-changing news in his head, and unable to be with her? Not on his top game, clearly.

He wasn't on top of his game anyway before that.

It wasn't an 'amateur mistake'. He kicked a player.

She told him the night before, not minutes before.

Ohgollymolly · 07/10/2023 20:19

No, my attention span is just fine.

It was just incredibly dull!

Yet here you are, on MN of all scintillating places, talking about it.

Superstar footballers who look like boy band members are always going to get plenty of offers from very attractive women. It’s naive to expect them to turn them all down. Victoria is bright enough to understand this.

WTAF?!? So it’s ok to cheat if you’re good looking and famous?! And the women should be intelligent enough to put up and shut up?!
wowsers! The other way round she’d be called all sorts!

Ohhoho · 07/10/2023 21:18

I enjoyed it. He definitely should have a knighthood. To experience that level of fame it’s unrealistic demands of adoration and hate and to remain sane. I applaud them both.

Keepingitmoving · 07/10/2023 21:49

Thought the documentary was very contrived and was very interesting that there were no outright refusals of adultery. They do however seem to “work” together and have been supportive of each other’s career so fair play to them.

Ohgollymolly · 07/10/2023 22:06

Yeah, the irony isn’t lost on me.

But while spending huge amounts of time in a relative room, you take your kicks where you can get them.

Snowflakeslayer · 07/10/2023 22:07

I watched it, and thought they both came across as a very real, normal, loving couple. His Dad on the other hand, what an absolute controlling fucktard!!! His poor wife!

AlwaysPrettyOnTheInside · 07/10/2023 22:16

stealthninjamum · 06/10/2023 10:56

i have only seen one clip and I wonder if it’s reflective of his attitude towards her. She’s describing how they came from a working class background. He’s in another room but keeps putting his head through the door saying ‘tell them what car your dad drove’. He kept interrupting until she admitted her dad had a rolls Royce. maybe it’s not reflective of the whole show but it felt like he was trying to demean her. If he wanted to sit down and take part in the interview then he should’ve done it. Apart from anything I dont think it’s fair to say people who are working class don’t have rolls Royces but he kind of stopped her making her point.

To me he seemed like a bit of a twat but I’m prepared to admit it’s their sense of humour as I haven’t seen the programme.

She was originally from Tottenham before they moved to Herts when she was small. Her dad was a builder. All references to that (tottenham) seem to have been scrubbed from Google though, although I thought it was in one? Did she have more? of her books.

I thought the same thing. I've only watched episode one but I feel Victoria comes out as a lovely genuine person but I don't think she really knew how to be or wanted to be a supportive WAG. Telling him she was pregnant the night before a huge game?! On the other hand I think he was unhealthily obsessed with her at that stage in their relationship. She was off on a world tour and seemed to be able to deal with leaving him but he couldn't deal with leaving her to play in the World Cup. That's every footballer's dream.

I can’t get over the fact Gary Neville’s dad is called Neville.

Neville Neville your face is a mess.

Yes, I might have been Googling…😳

Are you joking? That is the funniest thing… and I so needed a laugh tonight. Hahahaha
