To intensely dislike Rishi Sunak?

He has no backbone, no coherent policies (u-turns a dozen times a day)and no understanding of ordinary people's lives. Plus he wears all his clothes a size too small, which really irritates me.

@Lastchancechica - who are the Conservatives for?

For the people that actually live and work here.

ilovesooty · 01/10/2023 09:10

Since this thread is about Sunak, perhaps @Lastchancechica will explain why she likes him and considers his behaviour in politics to be that of a decent man?

pointythings · 01/10/2023 09:11

@Lastchancechica I'll consider believing you if the October Electoral Calculus aggregate shows the same thing as the single poll you have just linked to.

Not holding my breath.

Good idea. Let’s see.

Yesterday we had exactly this conversation, and blossom screamed we must listen to the polls.
Today the polls show they are narrowing at a very fast rate and now suddenly they are unreliable 🤷🏼‍♀️

I didn’t scream, it’s not my style. And Electoral Calculus still has Labour comfortably ahead.

bombastix · 01/10/2023 09:15

@Lastchancechica - don't personalise. That is cheap and obvious. And you have no reason to do this.

I'm asking you to describe the people who vote Conservative. If your answer is a sincere one then it is not enough for a majority.

Clingfilm · 01/10/2023 09:19

He's so far removed from the man of the street (money, privilege etc) he might as well be from Mars, I don't want somebody that out of touch making decisions on our lives.

And the lies, tax dodge, criminal record, u turns, declaring random regressive policies in the hope it'll win votes, just stop.

And he sounds like Will from the Inbetweeners when you hear him on the radio, which is distracting.

I am asking why you are using weird stereotypes of people that lived here 30 years ago? Tweedy…..

It hasn’t been updated yet 🥴

Crapsummer2023 · 01/10/2023 09:23

🤣. This is true. Her and ‘cut and paste’ Clav are putting in serious shifts. It’s a shame their libertarian paymasters don’t believe in giving staff sufficient time off. They must be exhausted.

ilovesooty · 01/10/2023 09:25

I see @Lastchancechica hasn't seen fit to justify Sunak's behaviour and political record as that of a decent man.

Lastchancechica · 01/10/2023 09:25

It’s so flattering that you imagine I am being paid for my glorious posts. Sadly I am not. But I will bank the compliment 😎

bombastix · 01/10/2023 09:26

@Lastchancechica - what makes you think such a demographic don't exist? They do. They've been voting Conservative since they were able.

They were once the backbone of the party you claim to support. I think that is no longer true btw. But if you don't know this then you don't know any important section of voters.

Moosesrock · 01/10/2023 09:27

Just watching him on the BBC. Have to say i disagree completely - this guy is consistent and solid and seems to be sensible and trying to do the right thing. Why is everyone in this country so keen to whine and complain. He is better than Boris and WAY better than Truss. Decent guy making sensible decisions and bringing some stability back to politics - go Rishi and good luck at the conference.

bombastix · 01/10/2023 09:29

Conservative does not mean libertarian. That's the point I'm making.

Conservatives used to conserve. Where is that?

ilovesooty · 01/10/2023 09:31

@Moosesrock do tell us what in his political behaviour and parliamentary history defines him as decent? @Lastchancechica hasn't answered that. Perhaps you can.

Can you expand on do the right thing, please. What right things is he doing?

It appears the best way to 'conserve' is burning down the fucking country.

I am going to enjoy my Sunday and go for a run. I will say this for Sunak.

He is a thoroughly decent, polished man of modest beginnings. He was born in Southampton, his mum worked in a pharmacy and his dad was a doctor.

It was not a silver spoon existence, they were a hardworking Indian family. Naturally gifted at maths and an intelligent man his experience in London and his knowledge around economics is no doubt assisting our country right now.

Our economy is growing, we have thousands and thousand of jobs available. Inflation is coming down. Things are steadily improving after the twin shocks of the war and pandemic. This is not a small achievement given the dire global financial back drop. We are doing really well!

I find him calm, thoughtful and considered on and off the world stage. I am quietly proud of our mixed heritage PM and he provides inspiration for many millions of children in the U.k and beyond.

Given we live in such difficult times atm, I think he is doing a great job.

I am a swing voter.

IClaudine · 01/10/2023 09:38

Locutus2000 · 01/10/2023 09:33

The party finds itself on average 18 points behind Labour in the polls – little better than the position 12 months ago after Liz Truss was displaced as prime minister by Rishi Sunak,” said Prof Curtice as the crucial conference kicks off on Sunday."

Bit different to the picture @Lastchancechica is painting.

Trying again with that latest poll!

This poll suggests differently.

To intensely dislike Rishi Sunak?
