He has no backbone, no coherent policies (u-turns a dozen times a day)and no understanding of ordinary people's lives. Plus he wears all his clothes a size too small, which really irritates me.

Well, he's very unpopular, and whatever inspiration he presents it would appear it is a small minority.

Heritage? Who cares. Does he deliver?

ilovesooty · 01/10/2023 09:43

This is a man who became Chancellor because he was prepared to sack the Treasury advisors and accept advisors appointed by Cummings, after Javid resigned over the issue. When Javid resigned from the government, precipitating Johnson's demise, he had the decency to inform Number 10 before the media published the story. Sunak didn't. The price of his endorsement by ERG MPs to become PM was having Braverman in a position of power. We've all seen how she's been allowed to behave.

Is that the behaviour of a decent man or a parliamentarian with principles?

Locutus2000 · 01/10/2023 09:39

"I am a swing voter."

😂😂😂

You have over-egged the pudding now.

More like jumped the shark.

Lastchancechica · 01/10/2023 09:45

Look, we are all going to have to wait and see what the other polls confirm once they have updated. But this swing back towards the conservatives is not unexpected. It is going to narrow significantly probably to very close margins.

If Starmer keeps speaking we can expect that gap to shorten much more speedily.

ilovesooty · 01/10/2023 09:46

Oh. I see @Lastchancechica still hasn't explained how his political record defines him as decent.

BIossomtoes · 01/10/2023 09:46

If the Tories continue to fight like rats in a sack I think we can expect that gap to widen quite significantly.

Pushkinini · 01/10/2023 09:47

@Lastchancechica It was polled on 27th/28th September so 4 days ago. Hardly out of date.

People in the U.K. which is something you are not aware of clearly, actually do CARE very much about our mixed heritage PM.

You say who cares?

You clearly have no idea how important it is here to have equality especially race equality and so Rishi becoming PM is a big deal. Thanks all the same. Perhaps if you had actually been here in the last three decades you would know this!

ilovesooty · 01/10/2023 09:50

Perhaps after her run @Lastchancechica can explain how the parliamentary behaviour I've described above can be defined as decent.

Crapsummer2023 · 01/10/2023 09:51

That was a short run @Lastchancechica

Alexandra2001 · 01/10/2023 09:51

He is a thoroughly decent, polished man of modest beginnings. He was born in Southampton, his mum worked in a pharmacy and his dad was a doctor

His mum owned the pharmacy, she was a pharmacist, thats hardly "modest beginnings" no matter how hard they worked for it all.

His views on working class friends says it all, he had none.

It was not a silver spoon existence, they were a hardworking Indian family. Naturally gifted at maths and an intelligent man his experience in London and his knowledge around economics is no doubt assisting our country right now

His knowledge seems to being used to make him and his family even wealthier, he also seems to turn a blind eye to India supporting the Russians over Ukraine, Russia, a country which really is a threat to Europe an our way of life, not to mention the Ukrainians and the '000s killed/tortured by them too.

Lastchancechica · 01/10/2023 09:52

Have a great Sunday everyone, especially to those overseas where the day might be ending sooner than ours.

LizzieSiddal · 01/10/2023 09:58

@LastchancechicaHe is a thoroughly decent, polished man of modest beginnings. He was born in Southampton, his mum worked in a pharmacy and his dad was a doctor. It was not a silver spoon exsistence.

Oh dear, you don’t him very well at all

He went to Winchester College, one of the most prestigious and expensive schools in the country. And his mother was an actual Pharmacist (good for her) who owned the Chemist shop she worked in.

ilovesooty · 01/10/2023 09:59

As @Lastchancechica can't answer my question, can anyone else who's described him as decent explain how the parliamentary record I've detailed accords with the behaviour of a decent and principled politician?

bombastix · 01/10/2023 09:59

@Lastchancechica - it's important to you to characterise me thus but I am very much resident.

You are right. I don't care about Sunak's heritage. I care what he delivers. Otherwise I would be looking at a superficial aspect of racial diversity over actual competence.

Amaya4 · 01/10/2023 10:02

The most entitled and out of touch PM who acts only in self interest.

The fact you so easily degrade Rishi’s achievements and the importance of racial equality says everything about YOU.

Your post is verging on or is quite possibly racist. You are saying that his heritage makes him a ‘superficial choice’ but that is very far from the truth, he is an extremely capable, intelligent man of considerable integrity. He also comes across to me at least as being a very kind person. These are creditable qualities in a leader.

Given the opportunity in the next election with a full mandate, I think Sunak will go on to achieve great things for us yes, and run our country with professional integrity. The fact he is our first PM of colour is secondary to his ability and intellect but it’s far from insignificant.

bombastix · 01/10/2023 10:13

@Lastchancechica / nice try. But I don't judge a man by the colour of his skin but the content of his character.

Lastchancechica · 01/10/2023 10:13

I really must go before rains! You can argue amongst yourselves

BIossomtoes · 01/10/2023 10:13

Here we go. The last refuge of a defeated Tory - accuse the opponent of racism. Unnecessary and libellous @Lastchancechica.

pointythings · 01/10/2023 10:14

I judge people by their actions, not their skin colour or their sex. To do otherwise is shallow.

Katharinablumwasinnocent · 01/10/2023 10:14

@Lastchancechica thought you had Covid ? So ill you can fire off literally hundreds of posts about how you hate KS and the LP over the last few days. Clearly so sick you can’t work.
Fair enough, you think the Tories will win the next GE. They may do, who knows. And if they do I’ll be pretty disappointed for the country’s sake but for you it’s like you’re getting some weird kind of enjoyment baiting the other side. Like it’s a bloody football match. Sad really.

Lastchancechica · 01/10/2023 10:17

My first run in 10 days thanks for your concern 🙏🏻 It’s high stakes the next election. It will totally define our future, so yes it matters. And being so ill reminds me that we do have to protect our future - we have no idea what is ahead and we do that by having a bullet proof economy and capable leaders.

AdamRyan · 01/10/2023 10:19

I wasn't fit for running either time I had covid ..... doesn't entirely stack up.

Rishi Sunak being of Indian heritage is something to celebrate. But it doesn't make him a competent politician.

What do you think of Diane Abbott chica? Would you celebrate her being PM and if not, would you accept and accusation that you were "verging on or is quite possibly racist"?
