He has no backbone, no coherent policies (u-turns a dozen times a day)and no understanding of ordinary people's lives. Plus he wears all his clothes a size too small, which really irritates me.

There is really no saving you from this bullshit is there!

When all you can produce by way of logical argument is to seek to dismiss opposing arguments as "this bullshit" you've basically run up the white flag and surrendered.

IClaudine · 05/10/2023 08:37

You must have a short memory if you've forgotten all Blair/Browns mistakes and disasters!

All governments cock up show me one that hasn't. I also remember things like record breakingly low waiting times, record investment in new cancer drugs and Sure Start. That is off the top of my head.

I don't care if some women have penises, tbh. They are very small in number. Most of them do no harm to anyone else. Most of them don't want to invade women's sport or our changing rooms. Although if they are afraid to use the men's loo, I will share with them.

It is predatory men I am afraid of, not women with penises. And yes, I know some can be both and that is an issue to be addressed.

Exactly this. And it's a joke accusing Labour of magic money trees when the Tories have just pulled yet another one out to fund their reform of A levels and T levels (though £600 million won't begin to make a difference, and it's completely unnecessary).

What is absolutely sickening is that they can find £600 million for a proposal which they know won't actually ever see the light of day, yet they won't do anything to fund SEN provision remotely adequately.

There is no policy to condemn because it isn’t a policy. You have set up a false premise and are asking people to respond as if it is true. Stop game playing - it’s an insult to the intelligence and education of all the women on this thread irrespective of their political views.

That's pretty well been Sunak's tactics with the no meat tax and no forced car share announcements.

Alexandra2001 · 05/10/2023 08:46

Did you factor in all the tens of billions of PFI liabilities for the shiny new hospitals and schools with atriums etc??

Where would we be now without all those new schools and hospitals? no one seems able to answer what the alternatives were.

Or Brown constantly lengthening the "economic cycle" because the deficit kept growing even in the economic boom?

Deficit FELL under Labour until the GFC, which wasn't their fault.... they dealt with it very well and we bounced back quickly.

Or Blair's illegal war in Iraq?

Right tory press BS, it was never illegal, Blair was cleared of all criminal allegations.

Brown trying to pretend that nurses' wages were an "investment" rather than an expense, or calling benefits "tax credit" to try to fool the IMF that our benefits were lower than they really were?

Nurses wages grew under Labour, they ve fallen back over 25% since 2010... one reason why before CV 4m on waiting lists and 30000 shortages, with massive costs in agency fees.

Meanwhile what have 13 years of the Tory's given us?

Alexandra2001 · 05/10/2023 08:51

Here is one cut Sunak isn't too keen to talk about, this will affect a profoundly deaf 5 yo i know, parents been told there is a 3 year waiting list for their assessment to have 4 extra specific teaching hours. Tory Britain.

The government has quietly signed a contract targeting 20% cuts to the number of new education plans for children with special educational needs and disabilities (Send) to bring down costs

If ever anything signalled "I'm absolutely desperate", that does.

I think he'll find that plans to eradicate smoking go down like a lead balloon with Tory voters, to say nothing of some pretty substantial funders.

I thought the only person that thought Truss was the new Thatcher was Truss.

You make it 2.

He says smoking is the biggest drain on the NHS. Unless it now causes Type 2 diabetes, I’d say it’s obesity.

Well now we are out of the EU, a Brexit freedom is we could reverse the smoking ban. Mysteriously, like reverting to Lds. that's never floated. Meanwhile any amount of moron-drawing shite about bendy bananas is recycled endlessly.

At least Thatcher had more than one brain cell.

BIossomtoes · 05/10/2023 09:15

Of course many EU countries take a pretty relaxed view of the smoking ban. Spain and Italy barely bother with it.

Fucking sense at last. MN rarity. All the 'phobes grating on about trans people just show how very much about fear it is.

Almost as if they had sovereignty isn't it ?

Crikeyalmighty · 05/10/2023 09:22

Do some of the 'trans obsessed' on this site not see that the Tory's love you getting wound up about 'woke' -because it totally distracts from the fact that they have no policies, nothing on the statute books, no forward planning that they can actually fund(let's just kick it down the road) and absolutely zero ideas on how to grow business and an economy post Brexit when there is little to encourage anyone to invest here unless it's a totally UK centric market-like a shop or bar etc .

BIossomtoes · 05/10/2023 09:22

I think Alistair Heath of The Telegraph lives in a parallel universe.

This has been a good week for Sunak and the Tory party, contrary to the Left’s hysterical bleatings.

IClaudine · 05/10/2023 09:37

Before the thread closes, interesting to see the final result of the poll. 76% of posters dislike Sunak. 57% dislike Starmer.

What I don't understand about Tories is how PFI is bad, yet privatisation is good.

Basically either the government fund these things or private industry does. And when private industry does they are going to want to make money out of it which will likely have negative consequences on the value to the public.
