He has no backbone, no coherent policies (u-turns a dozen times a day)and no understanding of ordinary people's lives. Plus he wears all his clothes a size too small, which really irritates me.

@Passepartoute I get that your view may not be mine but you missed off 400 billion spent on Brexit for very very few actual tangible benefits!!

Eh ? Brexit: job done, apparently.

The irony is that the current Tories are more social democrats than conservatives, with the highest taxes since WW2, a big state and huge legal immigration.

Well, if we had anything for these high taxes, big state and legal migration, the Tories would be way ahead in the polls heading for another term in office... but we haven't.

Instead we have terrible public services (no other country has 7.6m on waiting lists) huge issues with housing (not helped by 500k net coming to the UK each year) high taxes paying to put right the neglect Austerity gave us & to pay interest on long term debt, now the highest for 20 years.

Crikeyalmighty · 04/10/2023 08:53

@Passepartoute all I can say is those saying they would still vote it are either doing very nicely thank you-.like the brickie bloke I heard in town a few weeks ago in a cafe busily talking about 3 weeks in Barbados and 'milking everyone' now the good Polish builders are in shorter supply-or those posters are quite ok with incredibly low standards for everyone.

As Alastair Campbell has pointed out, when Gove has his right pinkie raised, it's a sign that he's lying.

To intensely dislike Rishi Sunak?
bombastix · 04/10/2023 13:26

That was a bad, unambitious speech.

I wonder what bounce if any Sunak will get.

"Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family."

Why would Rishi Sunak want to do a thing like that?

Zoelander · 04/10/2023 14:00

Very accurate @DuncinToffee 😊

And my old MP was one of them. Very decent, knowledgeable man.

My old MP was also one of them, he is now a trustee of a charity trying to help the postmasters affected by the Horizon scandal.

My current MP was briefly a minister in Truss's government and never ever votes against the party line.

Lots of comments on Twitter about the Sturgeon reference.

Not clever.

Goodness knows why Tory leaders speak such nonsense at their party conferences. May did the same with her citizens of nowhere nonsense.

bombastix · 04/10/2023 14:33

I don't like Sturgeoh but it was a low blow

Lastchancechica · 04/10/2023 15:07

No surprise there.

Which but in particular tickled your fancy?

Strawberry06 · 04/10/2023 15:22

Me and my husband met him last year in Richmond and he is a tiny and so incredibly posh! I felt like a right commoner speaking to him and I'm not working class!

However I don't mind the guy. He's got billions and billions. He doesn't need to be doing what he's doing he could easily be out of the limelight enjoying his billions. I believe he does want to try and do the right thing by the country.

That being said, I think it comes with the territory of being a politician - you just can't trust any of them!

I always vote tory because I don't agree with socialism but I do think Labour will get in at the next election and it will be a disaster!

Paul Mason tweeted this

His comment about Nicola Sturgeon, if uttered by a journalist live on air, would lead to them being taken off air immediately. It risks contempt of court. And the broadcasters cannot report on this error of judgment accurately without also risking contempt....

Good grief.

Strawberry06 · 04/10/2023 15:29

I can already see we have a lot of lefty's here attacking anyone who disagrees with them! And they wonder why people don't vote Labour!

Did you by any chance notice the thread title [or read any of the thread] ? It might have alerted you to the presence of 'a lot of lefties'

But why do you think Labour will be a disaster? If you explain then we will be able to agree or disagree.

pointythings · 04/10/2023 15:41

Anyone resorting to the term 'lefties' immediately loses the argument. Mainly by not actually having a rational one.

But you were never ever going to vote Labour, were you? So we don't need to wonder why - you have made it clear it's based in ignorance and blind dogma, rather than thinking about the options in a rational way.
