Shetland 😁

StillWantingADog · 21/09/2023 07:11

Inverness

VeloVixen · 21/09/2023 07:12

inverness is the furthest I’ve been.

I think of the north starting at Sheffield.

smartiesneberhadtheanswer · 21/09/2023 07:13

North starts at Watford

dressedforcomfort · 21/09/2023 07:13

John o Groats.

In my head I draw a line from the Humber to the Mersey and the North is everything above that. Notts, Derbyshire Lincolnshire etc are all Midlands.

smartiesneberhadtheanswer · 21/09/2023 07:13

North starts at Watford

Watford Gap! Which is not near the Herts Watford.

PuttingDownRoots · 21/09/2023 07:14

Fort George, which is just past Inverness.

North of England start point... M62 maybe? Or perhaps the A66 is better.

DisforDarkChocolate · 21/09/2023 07:14

Inverness.

I think the North starts at Leeds for England. No idea about Scotland.

AIstolemylunch · 21/09/2023 07:14

I've been to Skye however far north that is and I think after the midlands, Sheffield ish maybe. Derby and B'ham and Nottingham not North for me. Manchester is

Moonsoup · 21/09/2023 07:15

John o Groats. Cold up there. I think some people haven't ever properly look at and considered a map and just how physically vast Scotland is. Also, the whole concept of 'the North' refers to England - if you're in Scotland and say you're going to the north east, they assume you're going to north easy Scotland, not Newcastle area. Scottish people refer to Newcastle as 'down south'.

Snoopystick · 21/09/2023 07:16

John O’Groats. I think Northern England is roughly Sheffield and up.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 21/09/2023 07:17

Elgin. Dh was born there.

napody · 21/09/2023 07:17

Derby and up. When people talk about 'the north' they mean north of england- obviously Scotland a different country not just part of 'the north'.

OneMoreStepAlongTheRoadIGo · 21/09/2023 07:18

I've been to Shetland.

I live on South Coast so to me Birmingham is North. (Basically anything "North of oxford".l do know that Birmingham is the midlands but to me it's "north" as you're no longer German in the south...

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 21/09/2023 07:19

Aberdeen but if we’re actually taking about England, Carlisle or Newcastle which are both about the same level. I live in the far north of England though!

Badleg89 · 21/09/2023 07:20

I've been as North as Inverness

For me north is Northumberland/ Cumbria

OneMoreStepAlongTheRoadIGo · 21/09/2023 07:20

And googling Watford Gap (!) Yes that's where the North South divide is in my head

cruffinsmuffin · 21/09/2023 07:20

Shetland!

I think the north is past Birmingham too, and I live in the north 😂

Agree. North starts at Birmingham if you’re down here.

You'd think - but I've seen people refer to the north of the UK and mean Durham/Newcastle/Yorkshire.

ZolaBudd · 21/09/2023 07:22

I lived in Bham for years so I know shit 😊

wildwestpioneer · 21/09/2023 07:22

Dunnet Head which is slightly further north than John O'Groats

The north starts at Scotch Corner for me

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 21/09/2023 07:22

St Andrews

Sheffield is the start of the north from Berkshire imo.

Bbeth · 21/09/2023 07:23

Derby/nottingham and upwards is what I consider north 😄

Aberdeen is the furthest I’ve been.
