What’s the furthest north in the UK you’ve been? Where do you think the north starts?

Prompted by a friend who has never been north of Birmingham and thinks of that as North.

Stirling. The North starts after Stoke.

Butt of Lewis is the furthest North I have been in the UK. I consider anything North of Derby to be "The North".

The north starts north of the places calling themselves the midlands, so Leicester, Brum, etc.

I’d say Derbyshire / Nottinghamshire are the cusp of it.

Ayr - I live in Newcastle upon Tyne, for me Birmingham, Manchester etc are 3hrs south-west on the train.
