To ask if Jellycat soft toys are worth buying because of how expensive they are?

My DD wants one (she wants a particular one as well) but I’m not sure if I can justify £55 on a soft toy! Are they worth the money? What are they like in terms of quality? Are they made to last/well made or are they poor quality?

YANBU - they are not worth the money

Maybe I’m stupid but I’ve ordered the cake for her!! Let’s hope she actually likes it when it arrives because I don’t know how soft/cuddly it will be!

I'm very late to this and you've obviously ordered now but just to say both my DCs were gifted jellycats when they were born. Still have them, beautiful quality but so so soft and squishy, they both adore them. From car journeys to bedtimes to doctor appointments - jellycats are brought. They are fabulous and worth every cent.

I bloody love them. I reckon we probably have about 15-20 of them in our house and (young adult) dd keeps adding to the collection! They are all very soft and cuddly. They do lose their initial softness after a while, if they're well loved, but by that time, you're already attached to them. I do think they're nice quality overall.

If it helps (not the bank balance but maybe peace of mind) Ive just seen this in a shop and gave it a squeeze. It is very soft and squishy and a nice size, so she could probably use it to snuggle with a a small pillow in the car or something.

DS loves Jellycats - they're so cute and soft and cuddly. I do too actually. We have loads.

Please let us know what you think as considering getting one too, not sure on that one or the smaller one!

eBay is great for hardly used Jellycat soft toys at a fraction of the price.

I'm middle aged and have all the veg, these and mistletoe which is permanently above my door. That's not all of them😀They make me happy. And if someone starts a thread on knitted cacti I'll be back.

I woke up to the sound of my 8 and 10 yo playing on the 8yo's bed this morning... They had all the jellycats out despite having many newer more flashy cuddlies.

I am a Toy Buyer. Jellycat are our biggest supplier and completely outrun all other plush suppliers, simply because no one else compares. They can be very pricey, but the way they design the products are clever and they use different fabrics ingeniously.
For what it’s worth, can confirm the rainbow cake does have more ‘structure‘ to it than other plush toys, but still has a nice squish to it 😀

Love the sea creatures in the basket!

My DD collects them, she has about 50, all have been for Christmas, birthday presents or she’s bought them herself from pocket money. Some are worth quite a lot of money (not that she would ever contemplate selling them).
They are very, very good quality. None of them have ever had any damage or looked tired.
I think, if you are buying one, you need to make it clear that you aren’t going to be buying them every week.

DS has ONE. I have resisted buying all the little food and woodlandy ones etc so far. Splurged and got him a medium dragon for his 8th, despite us wondering if he'd even bother with another stuffed toy, and it was worth it to buy one in a larger size! He sleeps with it every night and over a year later it hasn't ended up in the teddy pile in corner of bedroom. I don't think I'd buy another, though.
