To think I can do all of this in one day? (In London)

I land in Gatwick at 845, then take the train to London bridge station and drop my bag there and then continue my way to trinity square to have a haircut at 10. At 12 I have a meeting at Southwark bridge. Meeting ends at 2 and then there's another meeting at the Shard at 2:30. Then leave just before 5 and catch the train back to Gatwick to take my flight back, which departs at 6:45.

I can stay overnight (as I think catching that flight back might be a bit too risky). I wouldn't have anything with me beyond my handbag with my laptop.

You may not even land until 10am.
Not nearly enough contingency time at either end of the day.

You know Gatwick Airport isn't in London?

Glassfullofdreams · 25/08/2023 17:41

Definitely not.

CruCru · 25/08/2023 17:42

Are you flying from elsewhere in the UK or do you need to go to passport control? If your flight arrives exactly on time, you still don’t have time to get from Gatwick to Trinity Square.

Sodthebloodypicnic · 25/08/2023 17:42

No. Didn't read past 'haircut at 10'

3isthemagicnumberrr · 25/08/2023 17:42

Nope!

Needmorelego · 25/08/2023 17:43

If you land at Gatwick at 8.45 you won't be at London Bridge by 10. There's a regular train (the Thameslink one) but an hour and 15 minutes isn't enough time when you add on getting through security, transfering to the train station.
I also don't think there's a Left Luggage place at London Bridge so you won't be able to leave your luggage there.

crumpet · 25/08/2023 17:43

can you fly into City? Smaller airport, quicker to get in and out

SatelliteStomper · 25/08/2023 17:43

Absolutely no way will you be sitting in the hairdressers in Trinity Sq 1h 15mins after landing at Gatwick. Same for your return flight.

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 25/08/2023 17:43

I think it's very ambitious. I think it's likely you'll miss your haircut, unless your flight is absolutely on time and it only takes you 10 mins to get off the plane and out of the airport.

On the way back, if you could guarantee getting the train at 16.45, I think you would be fine.

Tootingbec · 25/08/2023 17:44

Nope! You won’t be able to make your hair appointment for 10am.

Even if your flight lands dead on time with no baggage you need to allow at least 20mins to get through passport control and if on EasyJet you could be miles from the arrivals hall.

But assume you are lucky you will get to the train station for 9.15am then it is 30 mins to London Bridge, at least 10 mins walk to find bag drop etc etc. Then wait for bus or walk to Trinity Square? If hair appointment was 10.30 you might just make it if everything runs to clockwork but def not 10am

And same for return flight. You won’t make it in time for your flight - even without train and security queue and long walk to gate delays!

Needmorelego · 25/08/2023 17:44

The train journey is an average of 35 minutes.

Horriblewoman · 25/08/2023 17:45

The only bit that’s definitely doable is Southwark bridge to the shard in 30 minutes.

and haircut to Southwark assuming your haircut is an hour tops.

chatenoire · 25/08/2023 17:45

Sorry it lands at 820! So there's 100mins to make it to my hair cut appointment.

No passport control, but can only land at Gatwick unfortunately.

No, not likely.

sashagabadon · 25/08/2023 17:46

I love the fact you are squeezing in a hair cut to an already crazy day! What on earth are you getting done? Or just a blow dry for your meetings?
I too think you have no chance of making the hair appt , arriving in Gatwick 1 hour 15 mins beforehand but hope you do!

Needmorelego · 25/08/2023 17:46

Even 100 minutes will be cutting it fine. Is the haircut really a priority?

SgtPercyTwentyman · 25/08/2023 17:47

Doable IF all trains and planes are on time and all meetings don't over-run. Personally, I'd stay overnight.

cocksstrideintheevening · 25/08/2023 17:47

No chance that is all going to go smoothly!

It's hair cut and blow dry, I have failed short hair and she won't chop much (or I wouldn't think so). I have 1hr 40mins between landing and hair cut appointment.

Gatwick is huge, it takes ages to walk from the plain to security.

Not really, but I want to try this lady! She also has openings at 430, so I could contact her directly and tell her I'll be late (or the other way around, but she'd have to rush it either way).

AuroraForever · 25/08/2023 17:49

Nope. Flights, trains, tubes and buses get delayed/cancelled all the time and google maps might say it takes 15 mins to walk somewhere but the reality is sometimes very different. Add traffic into the mix if you’re getting around by road. I would say yours plans are a little too tight with not nearly enough flexibility.

CheckYourUsername · 25/08/2023 17:49

Are you familiar with travelling around London?

The plan sounds crazy and very stressful !!!

Needmorelego · 25/08/2023 17:50

Getting off a train at London Bridge and out to the buses/taxis/down to the tube can sometimes take almost ten minutes if it's crowded.

SoozyWoozy5 · 25/08/2023 17:50

No chance!
