To think I can do all of this in one day? (In London)

I land in Gatwick at 845, then take the train to London bridge station and drop my bag there and then continue my way to trinity square to have a haircut at 10. At 12 I have a meeting at Southwark bridge. Meeting ends at 2 and then there's another meeting at the Shard at 2:30. Then leave just before 5 and catch the train back to Gatwick to take my flight back, which departs at 6:45.

I can stay overnight (as I think catching that flight back might be a bit too risky). I wouldn't have anything with me beyond my handbag with my laptop.

@00100001 ok not passport control but you do have to go through some kind of security (I assume - I last flew in 1999).

Yes, security for sure.

@chatenoire
As long as the travel methods are not delayed and as long as the meetings don't over run. Then if it's military precision then it seems possible.

Trouble is, what is the likelihood of those two things being the case ( no travel delays, no overunning meetings)? I don’t fancy your chances OP, and it sounds very stressful! 😮

Most of her stuff on IG is editorial so I guess it's hard to find "real life" examples

...still can't see what the fuss is about??

Just bobs on straight hair?

Fairly sure I could do that after having cut DS19 hair most of his life 🤪

Butterflyfluff · 25/08/2023 21:55

I’m no hairdresser but that bob is wobbly! 😂

Lol... maybe the fashion is to have harsh cuts that are uneven and wobbly...?

BitOutOfPractice · 25/08/2023 22:31

@Rosecoffeecup perhaps you could get a reality check. This would officially be the most stressful day ever. And based on every part of the London transport system running at 109% optimal levels all day, including the air traffic control and airport systems. It’s just not happening.

Lonecatwithkitten · 25/08/2023 22:42

We landed on a BA flight the other day at Gatwick we got parked on some stand that was a 20minute bus ride from the Terminal, well the furthest door from any other part of the terminal. Without baggage it would have been 40 minutes from plane to arrivals hall.
Worst time of year to be travelling through Gatwick even at 4.50am the departures is like a setting mass of bodies.

That's very true, always presume there would be over runs, especially if the meetings get sidetracked and public transport is a mix at best of times.

Jev82 · 25/08/2023 22:59

Who are you flying with? If it's wizzair you probably won't land in time to get your return flight let alone the hair cut

It’s a domestic flight so unlikely to be wizzair. Most likely Easy Jet, potentially BA depending on the departure airport if it’s Gatwick

SocksAndTheCity · 25/08/2023 23:21

The journey I mentioned earlier was an EasyJet flight from Glasgow to Gatwick on a quiet morning, and I still only just made it back from the airport (08.30) to yoga (10.30) in two hours.

Well I already have a bob and have very thick straight hair ... Believe it not people do mess up those cuts. It happened to me last year and left in tears (well I cried once outside).

I'm flying eastern btw. I used them last year on the same route to then catch a transatlantic flight from Heathrow. Everything ended up being just fine

Cut out the haircut and shorten your meeting at the Shard so you can get back to Gatwick sooner.

I can't shorten the meeting this deal is worth almost 7 figures.... (Same as the previous meeting)

So you are potentially going to rush through your day when a 7 figure meeting is on the table?

Surely you would want to relaxed and prepped for that rather than squeezing in a haircut

Unless it's a case of I have this information over you, and require x deal then it seems more leverage would be needed or at least a planned business arrangement rather than rushing.

NicLondon1 · 26/08/2023 00:09

If 7 figures are involved, I am sure your work can afford a hotel the night before to ensure you make it.
I would demand that and also double-check how long the hair stylist needs - if colouring is involved they could need 3 hours

Grumpsy · 26/08/2023 00:11

Personally I think everything is doable bar the return flight, I’d book a hotel and return early the next morning

crumpet · 26/08/2023 01:14

Fly down, sleeper train back, with hair cut in afternoon and relaxed dinner in London?

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 26/08/2023 01:37

Not a hope.

Gatwick is huge. Thameslink is a joke. Rushing a haircut with a stylist you've never even met before is madness. There's no time for lunch. The only bit that comes close to making sense is the travel between meeting 1 and meeting 2.

But you seem set on it, so please get a GoPro and let us all watch.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 26/08/2023 01:41

Oh, and London Bridge is a maze and will be rammed.

HateMyselfToo · 26/08/2023 01:51

Placemarking as I want to know how it goes!

Asiatoyork · 26/08/2023 02:52

aaah I was thinking of Trinity Church Square, confusingly also in Southwark! 😂

Same! At first look I thought this was so-able then realised I live in a city with the world’s most efficient airport and was picturing that. Then I realised it was Gatwick and it starts to look a bit ambitious.

But would love live updates OP :)

MumsGoneToIceland · 26/08/2023 03:10

Flight home is definitely not doable. Gates close 20-40 mins before departure and you still have to get through passport control/security for a domestic - queue lengths can vary widely for that

mumtoboys12 · 26/08/2023 03:26

Impossible.

The times don't align. Latest flight is at 4 the day before (too early) and no sleeper train because of the strikes.

The last train back is at 6. IF anything goes wrong on my way back from the shard I'd be stranded in London.
