People Using my drive

It's our village fete today, never go because we work Saturday's, I started work first left in my car, DH about 30 mins later in his, leaving one on the drive, got home first to find 3 cars on my drive, one of them I know belongs to a friend, other two do not recognise.

Rang friend to ask if she knew who the others belonged to (as a bit annoyed she had not even asked if she could use my drive for her's ) to be told yes they belong to school mum friends of hers and she knew we would be at work so did not see a problem telling them to park there.

Pointed out I only just managed to get on my own drive and DH will be home shortly and will need to park on the drive as the whole village is rammed with cars, to be told they will be gone by 6pm as just about to have food and a drink, asked for at least one to be moved to park on our own drive, to be told I am unreasonable and ruining it for them.

Very tempted to block one in and refuse to move until the morning because I am shattered, had a stupuidly busy day and just want to chill in my PJ's with food and a glass off wine

I would be fucking livid and would tell them they have ten minutes to shift them or they will be blocked in until tomorrow as you plan an early night. I would not be shifting my car for them. I would also give then very short shift about their arrogance in thinking they could use a strangers drive way as free parking without even asking the homeowner.

AlwaysJumping · 20/08/2023 00:19

If I was the CFer friend who had been told to park I would be mortified and apologise and come immediately to move the care and send you flowers. She’s pissed at you for asking you to ,over so you can get home.she is beyond. Bet she recognises herself on here. Friendship over

Placemarking…

SinnerBoy · 20/08/2023 02:14

OP, if yo have a black permanent marker, change all the letters and numbers on their reg plates, where possible. They probably won't notice until the Police pull them over.

Sasha19052 · 20/08/2023 02:45

@Therealjudgejudy why don't you watch the thread and bookmark instead of writing "placemark"? Genuine question, I never understand this.

KarmaStar · 20/08/2023 02:59

Update please?
Think you were in the right, very much so!good for you both, you and dh !😀

SophieHope7 · 20/08/2023 03:13

We have a not dissimilar situation to this where someone parks across half our drive every weekend when visiting family. Means anyone visiting us can't use our drive too unless we park on the street. I've never understood this but equally have not been assertive enough to say anything.

RLmadmum · 20/08/2023 04:15

Dying for an update 🤣

Or those that just write a bloody full stop or a random letter! 🤬

LaffTaff · 20/08/2023 06:00

Very cheeky but people can, essentially, park on others' driveways. And its the car blocking (even if its your driveway!) that is the more likely to be ticketed/towed.

SinnerBoy · 20/08/2023 06:05

It won't be ticketed, or towed, in the UK. It could get a ticket if it's on the pavement, of course.

PhilomenaFunbags · 20/08/2023 06:16

Definitely need an update @quicklybeendrivenmad

BarbaraV · 20/08/2023 06:30

@SophieHope7 are you able to park a car in the section that gets half parked in, even if it’s just when it’s usually used by others? if you did this for aa few weeks they hopefully will get in a habit of parking elsewhere. You may already of tried this or it’s not possible for some reason. Only a thought 🌺

But your driveway is private property, not part of the road?

sashh · 20/08/2023 07:01

Do potatoes in the exhaust still work with modern cars?

user1492757084 · 20/08/2023 07:01

Give her a 20 minute time altimatim or they will be blocked in and charged triple parking.
Charge parking on them all.

olympicsrock · 20/08/2023 07:05

Poor form OP not to update…

Not to mention the lack of a diagram!

JanieEyre · 20/08/2023 07:23

I never understand the obsession with diagrams on threads like this. The point is surely that there are three cars in OP's driveway. How much of a diagram do you need for that, and why?

Gh12345 · 20/08/2023 07:34

what 2% think you are unreasonable?

God your 'mate' sounds like a piece of work. I would distance your self from now on.
