My son just called me mummy

He’s 5. He’s non verbal with Autism and has not shown any real inclination to talk.

This last 2/3 weeks he’s started ‘demanding’ food which is brilliant, but tiday he saw me and shouted ‘mummy!’.

I can’t believe it. I could cry ❤️

@Merryoldgoat, I have a (now grown up) child with a severe sensory impairment. I was told they may never do many things - sit, stand, etc. They have gone on to do that and more (even though I have had to hide my fear while they have been doing things). Those moments are golden to me, and I'm sure this is one of yours.
I'm so pleased for you. I know for me, those moments are the ones that carried me through the difficult times.

So pleased for you... My ds2 is profoundly deaf and autistic... He took a long time to speak... When he tried to say "Mumma" it didn't sound anything like it... I had several months of people tutting and staring disapprovingly when he wandered around looking for me shouting "BUGGER, BUGGER!" 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
