My son just called me mummy

He’s 5. He’s non verbal with Autism and has not shown any real inclination to talk.

This last 2/3 weeks he’s started ‘demanding’ food which is brilliant, but tiday he saw me and shouted ‘mummy!’.

I can’t believe it. I could cry ❤️

Thank you everyone - all I want for him is to be ok when I’m not here - he’s the happiest loveliest little bean - if he learns some speech it will help him so much. ❤️

OP that’s the most wonderful news I really relate as my autistic daughter didn’t speak at all until she was 6.

My son started a special school for Reception and it was only the last term we saw a real jump.

That is so wonderful OP 🤩 my sister's little boy was almost completely non verbal until he was nearly 7. I think they'd more or less resigned themselves to the idea he wouldn't talk. I'm overjoyed he's started to speak now, it doesn't change the fact he has very significant needs but it's just so wonderful to hear his voice ❤️ enjoy being called mummy.
