He’s 5. He’s non verbal with Autism and has not shown any real inclination to talk.

This last 2/3 weeks he’s started ‘demanding’ food which is brilliant, but tiday he saw me and shouted ‘mummy!’.

I can’t believe it. I could cry ❤️

I'm happy for you!

Merryoldgoat · 10/08/2023 21:21

It’s weird - it creeps up.

A few times I’ve asked him things and I thought he said ‘no’ or ‘yes’ but I wasn’t certain.

But the more I think the more progress there’s been over the last 3-6 months.

I’m so excited for him to show off to his teachers when he goes back!

Brilliant - and so encouraging for the future. He's definitely not non-verbal now!!

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 10/08/2023 21:22

That must be music to your ears. Hopefully the beginning of more communication 🙏

Merryoldgoat · 10/08/2023 21:25

His nursery teacher who absolutely loved him always said she felt it was on there and it would come one day.

I’m going to go and put him to bed and give him a big squeeze ❤️

Going to bed tonight with a smile on my face after reading that!

Wenfy · 10/08/2023 21:26

There’s nothing like it. I’m sure he’ll soon become a chatterbox in no time x

This is wonderful, thank you for sharing it ❤

LetMeEnfoldYou · 10/08/2023 21:30

Can I make a suggestion? Write all of these little lovely moments down and date them, then on the 31st December sit with a glass of wine and read them all back. It's a brilliant way of remembering the best moments and a nice New Year tradition too.

Twinsmummy1812 · 10/08/2023 21:31

That’s wonderful!

@TheLongpigs

Aw ❤️

I confess I had to leave a number of whatsapp groups and fb groups with mums who would complain about their kids talking to much, it was just too tragic for me, I was consumed with too many negative emotions.

Junelove · 10/08/2023 21:33

So so happy for you
❤️ x
