My son just called me mummy

He’s 5. He’s non verbal with Autism and has not shown any real inclination to talk.

This last 2/3 weeks he’s started ‘demanding’ food which is brilliant, but tiday he saw me and shouted ‘mummy!’.

I can’t believe it. I could cry ❤️

I know a little how you feel OP. I have a Foster Son. He always called me by my Christian name but after about 18 months he looked up one day when I gave him his dinner and said thank you Mum. He was 6 1/2.

My autistic son was very speech delayed and used to call me adda. He couldn’t say mama. The day I realised he was talking to me was wonderful!

It really does. My older boy also has ASD but he was talking so early that this is a completely different experience.
