My son just called me mummy

He’s 5. He’s non verbal with Autism and has not shown any real inclination to talk.

This last 2/3 weeks he’s started ‘demanding’ food which is brilliant, but tiday he saw me and shouted ‘mummy!’.

I can’t believe it. I could cry ❤️

That makes me smile, thank you.

We had a really nice stress-free day with just the 4 of us plus PIL.

@Merryoldgoat That is so cool though that he's learned these things.

My little chicken had his first day back and we’ve got home. He’s seen his industrial bubble machine which he’s brought over with the bubble mixture.

Lots more over Christmas as I suppose lots of one on one time. A particular development is him starting very basic role play with his Upsy Daisy, Iggle Piggle and Makka Palms toys.

And my older boy who likely meets the criteria for AFRID decided to try bacon yesterday and says he’s willing to try meatballs and carrot. I literally can’t believe it. I actually cried over him eating a rasher of bacon 🤣🤣

@Merryoldgoat Aw all sounds great OP. Please keep the updates coming. I mean, sometimes things might plateau for a bit and that's normal too imagine. Then he'll discover some more things.

Does your eldest ever eat/try tomato pasta sauce? There's an amazing recipe on how to feed your family for £20 a week website (can't post link) that hides a tonne of veg. I can even eat it and I am the fussiest.

@CoffeeLover90 funnily enough a 7 veg tomato pasta used to be his absolute favourite - he’d wrestle the bowl from you.

One day he point blank refused it and has ever since. Little bugger.

Older will eat it under duress.

All of us take good multivitamins daily which I think has kept us largely illness free since September —which I’ve clearly just jinxed—

@Merryoldgoat I know what you mean. Mine was obsessed with cottage pie, then put of no where he acted as if I'd placed a plate of dirt in front of him 🤣 I keep trying. We just started vitamins in October, I wasn't convinced it would make a difference but it has. We both get less colds and when we do they're mild and don't last long. I'm terrible for not eating veg, I hide it in his meals as much as possible but the only one I can eat myself is the pasta sauce.
Don't worry about it or anyone else's opinions. If they're fed and looked after that's all that matters.
