My son just called me mummy

He’s 5. He’s non verbal with Autism and has not shown any real inclination to talk.

This last 2/3 weeks he’s started ‘demanding’ food which is brilliant, but tiday he saw me and shouted ‘mummy!’.

I can’t believe it. I could cry ❤️

He’s the most precious little whirlwind.

I hope all of you here who are waiting for those first words don’t have to wait too long.

What I remind myself however is that you would genuinely struggle to find a child happier with life, speech or no speech. He’s an absolute joy and lights up the world just as he is.

Aw, so lovely! I'm glad he's a happy little soul. My DS, (now 24!) is also very content. Just can't find a job for him, but he's quite happy not working!

He sounds adorable.

Little update:

I was thinking this week I’d not seen much progress in a while.

Tonight he decided to perform and did all of the phonic sounds to the alphabet, sang the alphabet song and is now choosing each letter and saying a word that begins with that letter.

He especially likes ‘T’ - TRAIN, TRACTOR, TREE said with aplomb.

He’s very VERY pleased with himself.
