My son just called me mummy

He’s 5. He’s non verbal with Autism and has not shown any real inclination to talk.

This last 2/3 weeks he’s started ‘demanding’ food which is brilliant, but tiday he saw me and shouted ‘mummy!’.

I can’t believe it. I could cry ❤️

Brilliant! Hearing my autistic child say 'Mummy' is the best sound in the world ❤I waited a long time and it fills me with absolute joy every time.

So lovely to hear, OP.

It’s very sweet - both boys are bouncing right now.

The other big development is that he’s much more interested in his big brother. Used to largely ignore him but now asks him for ‘tickle’ and ‘bounce’ and plays chasing games with him.

They used to have completely separate orbits but are more of a little duo now.

Thought I’d give a little update.

We had a little plateau and now another little explosion

He is saying ‘mummy’ and ‘daddy’ more

We just asked what he wanted (as he handed DH the remote) and he said ‘GRUFFALO’ - he will ask for a variety of things now by name and it’s recognisable.

He is counting to 20 (counting objects)

Putting his foam numbers in order up to 10

Telling us what colour stacking cup to put on the stack

When I kept trying to get him to eat his dinner he shouted ‘NO THANK YOU’

I feel so happy for him ❤️

Just lovely❤️ Still waiting for this to happen to my DS. If I say one, two, three he’ll say “gooooo” which sounds adorable. If I take him over to the clock and ask him what it is he’ll say “cock” 😆 he’s gone from nothing at all to these two little words. I hope they keep coming
