To not boil another egg?

DC2 is 7 and going through both a growth spurt and a very fussy stage.

DC was offered poached or scrambled egg for breakfast. ( which I can reliably make) but I was persuaded to do boiled instead. Then I made it a bit runny… and had the audacity to serve with soldiers made of GRANARY bread! ‘It has bits in it’

DC refused to eat it and wanted something else. I asked DC to eat what I had made… they have left breakfast with nothing and are being extremely grumpy.

I have declined to make another egg… AIBU to think when they are properly hungry they will eat what is on offer…

photo attached of the offending plate…(DC insisted that I take the boiled egg out of the shell - but now doesn’t want it!

@YourNameGoesHere yes that is what a hard boiled egg is like out of the shell. DC wanted a soft boiled egg. (But not in a shell and not a poached egg…)
there is a reason I offered scrambled or poached!

I'd have served his egg cracked over his head!

You are now in the daily mirror op. Famous!

My first ever quote in a national: 'That's not a boiled egg'.

Well I think I've made it. Grin

I often have eggs boiled for seven minutes. (The yolk is soft but not runny - delicious but not for dipping.) The egg isn’t immediately dry when I take them out of the water. I don’t understand how you would get dippy eggs this way…

Maybe I phrased it differently, they are not completely dry, a patch of dry appears as you lift the egg out.

Oh dear lord, the way that must have looked when it came out of the shell, there is no way in HELL I'd have eaten that, I'd starve or eat my own arm - it must have still had a liquid white, and been 'snotty' for a zap in the microwave to make it look like that!

Bring the water to the boil. Put in the room temp egg. lid on, reduce heat, simmer for 4/5 mins for a very runny egg but just set white, 5/6 for a thicker but still dippy yolk and firmer white... etc.

Or with cold eggs, start with cold water, eggs straight in, bring to a rolling boil, once at that boil, set your timer, lid on, heat off and time again 4/5 for really runny, 5/6 for thicker...

You never boiled your boiled egg and I'll bet it came out of the fridge so no wonder it wasn't cooked.

I was in your side until I saw the photo - that looks utterly revolting!

The soldiers aren’t toasted and god knows what happened to that poor egg.

Yes yes and yes to what they said. Sorry OP - there's no way I would eat that and I'm 59 Grin
