AIBU that stat of 49% of women climax every time can’t be right?

Just read this DM article… AIBU that stat that the most unsatisfied women still report 49% climax every time must be a skewed sample?

I don’t have any issues alone but have never climaxed through PIV with any partner… I can’t be that unusual?

YABU- I climax more often than not
YANBU- i climax less that 49% of the time

Want longer orgasms? Move to the Peak District

Women in Sheffield reported enjoying the longest orgasms in the UK as well as a high frequency of orgasms, at 60 per cent of times from sex with a partner, it reveals.

I always do, but not through PIV. I don't know any of my friends that do!

readbooksdrinktea · 31/07/2023 08:13

I do, often several times, but not through PIV.

EBearhug · 31/07/2023 08:25

I thought only about 20% women could orgasm through PiV. That article doesn't say that's how they come though, just through sex, which is not just PiV - could include oral or manual stimulation.

Sorry, do you and your friends actually sit around and talk regularly about this? LOL

I always climax from PIV. I have no idea if my friends do.

Soooomaninamechanges · 31/07/2023 08:29

@MattDamon I regularly talk to my friends about sex, orgasms, sex toys and all sorts! You sounds repressed!

Very, very rarely orgasm from PIV but definitely orgasm every time we have sex

JamSandle · 31/07/2023 08:30

I've never climaxed through PIV sex.

LlynTegid · 31/07/2023 08:30

If you count faking, then perhaps. Not otherwise.

Not talking about orgasm specifics with friends makes me repressed? Okay, Samantha. 😂

itsallnewnow · 31/07/2023 08:36

I don't talk about it much with friends now we're passed the wild days of our twenties Grin
I organs every-time with my husband, almost always from PIV. Rarely happened with my X

Hopingforno2in2023 · 31/07/2023 08:37

It doesn’t seem to state PIV so I imagine it means all types. In that case I find it shockingly low.

JamSandle · 31/07/2023 08:30

Me neither!

No sex life at the moment but no problem climaxing on my own!

Shurleyknot · 31/07/2023 08:40

I had to google PIV, yuck. To answer your question until I met my DP I had never had an orgasm through penetration but since the first night we slept together it is a very common occurance. I used to think women lied when they said they orgasmed through penetration but nope it would appear it happens I am delighted to say.

MrsJellybee · 31/07/2023 08:40

I can orgasm through PIV if I’ve orgasmed through oral first. Sort of ‘ride the wave’… Not through PIV alone.

FloatingthroughSpace · 31/07/2023 08:43

How can PIV not work for some women? Is it to do with anatomy?
I am luckily very orgasmic via PIV. Usually simultaneously (DH controls his orgasm until I am nearly ready, but the way his penis changes slightly when he's on the brink sets me off)

Cloudflare · 31/07/2023 08:44

I learned that if I got on top I could I could just about always orgasm with piv (I had to look up what piv meant lol).

Yes that's what I was thinking.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 31/07/2023 08:49

I've noted that of 2-3 friends who growing up would often have one night stands etc they are also the ones that orgasm from PIV - makes sense really, more likely to be a good experience for them and worth the effort!

honeylulu · 31/07/2023 08:59

It doesn't say PIV so is referring to any type of female orgasm during a "session". I actually think 49% is really low. The male partners must be rubbish! If I had sex with someone who couldn't be bothered to make sure I climaxed I wouldn't bother again. Honestly what would be the point? I'm not just a vessel for male pleasure.

Whatswhatwhichiswhich · 31/07/2023 09:00

I voted YANBU because I have never came through PIV. However sex isn’t only PIV

itsmyp4rty · 31/07/2023 09:07

And who counts how many seconds they orgasm for? And at what point does an orgasm stop? That sounds like a very inexact thing to count! I have no idea how many seconds mine last and orgasms can vary quite a bit in intensity and can be very localised or whole body!

It’s probably a combination of things.

anatomy is one. All vulvas and vaginas are different. Heavier women will have more fat around the mons pubis that can make stimulation during PIV harder to obtain Vs lighter women as there’s more padding. Though the reverse could be true in other women as the padding could mean more friction/pressure.

outer parts of the clitoris are different sizes too. If it’s larger it’s likely to get more stimulation from PIV than if it’s smaller.

sex position helps too but this all depends on your own mobility.

there’s lots of health conditions that can impact it too. Women are more likely to suffer from lymphoedema, we can end up with birth injuries or difficulties just from pregnancy itself such as continence issues.

I’ve only PIV orgasmed with one partner. I was significantly lighter, younger and more mobile and more hadn’t had a baby yet so could get into the positions that worked. He was also girthier but average length which I believe helped me/us. But I did put more effort in with him. Because if I didn’t I wouldn’t get my orgasm.

ive been unfortunate that most of the men I’ve dated haven’t been interested at getting me off in any way because it takes longer and their disinterest in general makes it harder to be in the mood so the likely hood of PIV orgasm is ZERO

kittensinthekitchen · 31/07/2023 09:14

The article doesn't mention PIV, just 'sex', so not sure what you're referring to with your OP.

kittensinthekitchen · 31/07/2023 09:15

I'd be interested to see the stats for how many men orgasm during sex. Bet its higher than 49%!

ClinkyWotsit · 31/07/2023 09:17

It’s a survey of 1,000 people for a sexual health company so it’s possible the respondents aren’t entirely representative of the general population. If I were, say, a mum of a number of small children and sex barely crossed my mind, let alone having an orgasm each time, then perhaps I don’t have the time or inclination to complete a survey asking about my sex life 🤷🏼‍♀️

QueefQueen80s · 31/07/2023 09:21

I've never had one at all, feels like I'm surrounded by orgasms on tv
