AIBU that stat of 49% of women climax every time can’t be right?

Just read this DM article… AIBU that stat that the most unsatisfied women still report 49% climax every time must be a skewed sample?

I don’t have any issues alone but have never climaxed through PIV with any partner… I can’t be that unusual?

YABU- I climax more often than not
YANBU- i climax less that 49% of the time

Want longer orgasms? Move to the Peak District

Women in Sheffield reported enjoying the longest orgasms in the UK as well as a high frequency of orgasms, at 60 per cent of times from sex with a partner, it reveals.

I've never had an orgasm through PIV as far as I can recall! I don;t even expect it tbh.

I do enjoy PIV though and usually sort myself out after DH has finished and gone to sleep.

What? Surely DH should be involved in that or does he only think sex is for him

CallieQ · 31/07/2023 10:18

Women who have never had an orgasm... have you tried oral? The best way IMO

CarolHath · 31/07/2023 10:18

I climax every time with my husband. That why I married him 😄 via PIV but with clit stimulation at the same time. Never had an orgasm with past partners. Turns out they were the problem, not me

Shurleyknot · 31/07/2023 10:22

@CarolHath preach! My ex couldnt have got me wet if he dragged me through a puddle.

No- he puts a great deal of attention into it all but it only serves to irritate me!

TheBloatedMiddle · 31/07/2023 10:24

Bit like Leonard Hofstadter who think he is King of Foreplay but it just goes on too long.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 31/07/2023 10:27

Yes I climax with PIV if I have just climaxed, usually with a clitoral vibrator. Which is standard for our sex ‘routine’.

Version12 · 31/07/2023 10:29

Straight women are least likely to orgasm.

"The study, by Indiana University, Chapman University and Claremont Graduate University, showed the proportion of people who usually orgasmed was:

  • 65% of heterosexual women
  • 66% of bisexual women
  • 86% of lesbian women
  • 88% of bisexual men
  • 89% of gay men
  • 95% of heterosexual men"

I don't think I've ever not orgasmed (not through PIV though) with my partner, and we've been together 9 years.
I've seen some women claim they don't mind not coming that often and still like sex because of the "closeness". Fuck that. If it was happening for me less than half the time, I wouldn't be with him.

fireflyloo · 31/07/2023 10:32

@BillaBongGirl my experience too

Sapphire387 · 31/07/2023 10:41

I orgasm every time but not usually through PIV. It's so depressing that many people still define sex as just PIV rather than the whole encounter.

My husband gives me oral every time, works every time. He enjoys doing it. I'm not sure what kind of men aren't bothered whether their partner has an orgasm, but I suspect they are not worth being with.

rabbithearted · 31/07/2023 10:44

I don't orgasm every time and don't have a problem with that. The process of sex is still enjoyable to me and the pressure to orgasm is often stressful .

GeekyDiva80 · 31/07/2023 10:56

I get most of my orgasms in my sleep. I wake up having one Confused. Never happened before but since coming off my anti depressants it happens once or twice a night. It's got a different feeling though.

I use a finger bullet during sex especially doggie style otherwise my hand gets too tired. This way I can come 2/3 times until he does. So much better experience for me. I keep it under my pillow so easily accessible and it makes me feel more comfortable getting it discretely. Don't know why as we are very open with each other 🤷‍♀️

Yellowflower47 · 31/07/2023 11:26

I orgasm every time, through PIV or oral, depends what we’re doing. No toys or extra stimulation. Sometimes we do a lot of foreplay, sometimes none at all.

I didn’t realise so many women couldn’t orgasm either at all, or through PIV.

Potatomashed · 31/07/2023 13:02

This is fascinating, thanks for your contributions. It looks pretty split between women who reach climax most the time and those who don’t regularly…

I wrote PIV penetration as that’s kind of what society deems ‘sex’ to be. I do occasionally with other activity such as oral or using a vibrator together but I feel like maybe I’ve conditioned myself to a very specific clitoris centric way to climax and it’s hard to reach with a partner. Would love some kind of sex coaching or something because I’m sure part of it is psychological. Can anyone recommend anything? Haha

It’s def not to do with my current partner specifically as I haven’t with almost anyone, some who made great efforts and others who didn’t.

49% seems depressingly low if it refers to all sex. Who would want sex without an orgasm?

Actually, the only times I’ve come close have been in my sleep. And then I wake up 😂
Depressing.

49% of mumsnetters have voted YABU so that fits with the study results!

TheShitEater · 31/07/2023 13:48

I always do but I have to have external stimulation which I usually do myself. It's just what works for me.

Anotherparkingthread · 31/07/2023 13:57

I always orgasm through piv, multiple times. I've never had disappointing sex so these statistics are an absolute shock to me.

I don't mind receiving oral but if I never did again I'd be quite happy, it's absolutely inferior to penetrative sex. The orgasms I have during sex are often mind blowing. This is going to sound extreme but I sometimes even almost hallucinate from the sheer intensity, its like I don't exist at all or I can see all the gaps between all things/ into space and time. Its hard to explain but similar to taking psychedelic substances only it lasts much more briefly! I thought this was normal.

Goldencup · 31/07/2023 14:11

Yes PIV is best and most reliable way for me. I am quite slim though and I think maybe we do the CAT thing instinctively ?

Very confused now, my orgasms are similar to those described on a good day a literally "see stars". I can orgasm though Clitheroe stimulation only but not as intense.

FloatingthroughSpace · 31/07/2023 17:13

Clitheroe stimulation!! 😂

Basketballqueen · 31/07/2023 17:19

Gay woman here, always do. Always have. As do/ have partners.
it’s not something gay women seem to have an issue with… though my straight friends do, and say weird things like ‘it’s the intimacy that counts.’
well yes, it does but that should also come with an orgasm…
