Considering the fuck up ye made of the last one then no.

IClaudine · 01/07/2023 14:29

They can make all sorts of promises as a sop to the xenophobes, they won't win the GE.

I hope.

How much has Bravernan's Rwanda wet dream cost us so far?

IClaudine · 01/07/2023 14:30

Bravernan? 😆 Braverman.

OneTC · 01/07/2023 14:31

That's some desperate shit

Swrigh1234 · 01/07/2023 14:32

They have all the tools at their disposal to stop this problem. They just don’t want to.

Uncontrolled mass immigration is a policy choice, not an accident.

TooBigForMyBoots · 01/07/2023 15:01

They are seriously suggesting that we vote away our Human Rights to make Suella's dream come true.

What is wrong with these people?

Surely a referendum can't overrule a court decision anyway?

Not surprised to see Jonathan Gullis is involved in this. And of course the wording would be such that things like doing asylum processes properly would not be mentioned at all.

If we vote to leave the ECHR the UK government would not be bound by its rulings and could do whatever it wants.

Jonathan Gullis is a nasty racist twat. As if Stoke hasn't got enough shit to deal with!

I think it is desperation. Even traditional Tory voters are turning away from them in disgust. All they have can do now is try to bottom feed on the really nasty elements of the electorate, who are too stupid to understand the implications of leaving the ECHR.

GoodChat · 01/07/2023 15:38

Ah I see @TooBigForMyBoots

Well isn't that a bloody terrifying concept!
I don't think we can trust the British public (or the government!) to make that decision.

FishIsForCatsNotDogs · 01/07/2023 15:42

Maybe we should have a referendum to find out if we want that referendum.

That's what they plan turning the next GE into. "Vote Tory and we'll give you a referendum on the ECHR."

Like @GoodChat I think this is a terrifying prospect.

Oh just call an election, bunch of cowardly twats

I think that would be a massive miscalculation - they are haemorrhaging their “reasonable” voters left right and centre. Those reasonable voters are going to be repelled by the idea of leaving the ECHR in order to be shittier to asylum seekers.

Britain First isn’t a credible political party because there simply aren’t that many knuckle-dragging racists and moustache-twirling Mog-style villains out there. Some, yes, but not 30% of the electorate.

2bazookas · 01/07/2023 16:12

Who needs a referendum? The Conservatives should take their lead from the SNP and just invent new meanings for election results.

Hell, if the Conservative Party promises to terminate Suella Braverman's political career, I won't vote SNP. How's that for tactical voting?

TooBigForMyBoots · 01/07/2023 20:13

This government have zero respect for law or Human Rights. They want to be able to do whatever they want and fuck everyone else.

The sooner we bin them the better.

Did they not learn from Brexit? They think they can dig themselves out of a hole to make the public vote against it so they don't look weak, it'll look "democratic", but then what if like Brexit we actually voted yes.....

TooBigForMyBoots · 01/07/2023 21:38

What they learnt from Brexit is how easy it is to manipulate the public into voting against their best interests.Hmm

OP posts:
ElizaMulvil · 01/07/2023 22:01

And this is how fascism is voted in. Voting at first to abolish someone else's Human Rights- ( someone who you don't agree with maybe or know much about or care about) - the Asylum Seekers' / Refugees'/Trade Unionists' / noisy Demonstrators'/ Greens' / Environmentalists' / Lefties' etc ) and incidentally, on the quiet, you've abolished your own Human Rights too.

By the time you've realised, it's too late. The ability to protest or vote it out has gone.

Churchill who led us in the 2nd WW fighting against Fascist Germany and Italy, and helped set up the ECHR ( European Convention on Human Rights) in 1950 to stop fascism ever taking a hold in Europe again will be turning in his grave at what his party as become and is doing.

So much for the mantra 'it could never happen here'!

whatkatydid2013 · 01/07/2023 22:13

I can’t believe anyone thinks this would be a good idea 🙈
