@TooBigForMyBoots
We need our government to, you know, actually do the fucking work and process asylum claims.

So they process the claims and recommend people to be deported, but the immigration lawyer (being paid with our money) submit appeal after appeal and finally some 'pinko' judge says they can stay because their Human Rights are being infringed.

Then we get cases like these ;-

https://www.migrationwatchuk.org/news/2023/01/26/horrific-murder-in-bournemouth-shows-how-illegal-asylum-abuse-threatens-your-safety

The judges are not following their personal beliefs here. They are applying the law, of which the ECHR is part.
(as for the idea that all judges are “pinkos”, that’s laughable. Few people are tougher on criminals, for example, than the experienced crown court judge.)

Some figures regarding Returns and Removals.

Labour managed to deport many, many more than the Tories do now. The Conservative Party is not fit for purpose, we need to get r8d of them as soon as possible.

And people need to stop believing their filthy lies and pathetic excuses.

@TooBigForMyBoots We have always been able to deport failed asylum seekers. We have all the laws necessary,

Examples, please.

The biggest cause of delay in removals of failed asylum seekers is bureaucratic, says Jerome Phelps, director of pressure group Detention Action. Many asylum seekers will have fled their countries without a valid travel document. Others may have destroyed their passport before entering the UK and it can be difficult to prove their nationality. Phelps argues that some people in this situation are "effectively unreturnable".
"The UK is unique in the EU for having no time limit on detention," he explains, adding that some people in detention are waiting for an emergency travel document that is unlikely ever to come.
Some countries refuse or delay issuing a travel document to returnees who do not have a valid passport. Other nations do not allow the forced return of individuals, or demand proofs of nationality that are almost impossible to meet. How many people are stuck because of problems with their documents is not clear. The Home Office says that this does not form part of their routinely published statistics.

So I would be pleased to hear a solution to this, from your good self 🙂

Well, that's your Left-wing opinion, isn't it?

When you can't win an argument you insult people for their opinions? - typical Angela Raynor thicko nonsense.

@peucepetunias not at all. The poster who used the word 'pinko' could (possibly) have come up with rational arguments as to why the judiciary in the UK are left wing (they're not, but for the sake of argument let's go along with it). She didn't; she chose to resort to cheap insults instead. I pointed that out, using the same kind of language to make the point clear.

I choose to believe that the people in charge of the law in the UK are highly educated and skilled professionals, who have an understanding of national and international law that I as a non-lawyer do not have. If you and yours on the other side of the divide have evidence that this is not the case, I'd love to hear it.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 02/07/2023 15:06

How lovely. Let's stir up racism/ a battle over illegal immigration so people fight each other to provide a nice distraction and smokescreen for Tory incompetence.

Since then a whole group of organisations and immigration lawyers have been spawned, who make a good living out of challenging removals, using the UNHCR as a weapon.

As I said it is no longer fit for purpose.

Or quite possibly we have had a government who have made their disregard for international law quite clear, and so lawyers have banded together to fight back and ensure international law is upheld...

Oh yeah let's blame the Tories instead of the people traffickers who are laughing all the way to the bank 🙄

People trafficking in all its forms is abhorrent.

TooBigForMyBoots · 02/07/2023 15:16

There have always been HR lawyers. There have always been appeals. It's part of a system that works really well.

It takes so much longer to process claims in the UK than it does in France or Italy, 2 countries that get more immigrants than the UK and are signatories to the ECHR. So past UK governments managed it. Other European countries manage it. Our government can't and it's not the ECHR's fault. It isn't lefty pinko types fault.

It's the fault of our lazy, incompetent, corrupt government and the poor unfortunates who swallow their lies and vote for them.

So what International law(s) do you think are/were not being upheld?

Regholdsworthswaterbed · 02/07/2023 15:22

Definitely not. The British public have proved that they are thick as shit and shouldn't be responsible for such decisions.

I'm not sure, it's probably something along the lines of actually processing Asylum claims and returning those who don't qualify. It's what they did in the past, returning 100s of thousands every year.

What is her problem? She is totally obsessed with sending people to Rwanda. Total nutjob.

no more referendums, just get rid of this stupid government please, they all are shockingly incompetent.

This. It’s just depressing. Get them out asap and I hope Braverman, Patel, Johnson and the other race baiting incompetents leave politics altogether.

It is a bit scary that there are people who would willingly give up their human rights so Suella Braverman can send a few hundred people to Rwanda.😬

Fortunately most people have more sense.

Assuming the judges and lawyers aren't 'pinkos' how does Labour know they can achieve the same results as in previous years?

I'm looking for details here, not just blanket statements. Do you have any concrete strategies that Labour could employ to achieve their goals?

Part of the reason it takes so long to process claims and remove people are legal challenges based on …. You guessed it.

The reason it’s taking so long is because they’re sacked the majority of the people who were doing the processing. We’ve got tens of thousands of job vacancies in this country, wtf aren’t we allowing them to work and pay tax while they’re waiting?
