What did you last but someone flowers for?

Not included is mother day / birthday / get well soon

When did you last buy someone flowers for a reason that may not be considered the norm. (As above)

I received flowers as they were intended for someone else at a hobby but they didn't show. I was still grateful for them as the person could have taken them home for themselves.

I bought someone flowers recently to show gratitude for a selfless act they did which benefited our family.

The last time I bought someone flowers were when they just got out of hospital so more of a welcome home than a get well soon.

A friend bought me flowers last year when I'd been having a tough time with my parents. They were a bunch of tulips which cheered me up a lot.

I got some for a friend who had done we'll at something at her job. She'd been very stressed about it.

Wellgoodforyou · 28/06/2023 08:19

I bought some flowers for my partner a couple of weeks ago, to show I love and appreciate him. We often buy each other flowers. Also bought some for a friend who was doing a bbq for us, and my dad when i went there for lunch. I'm always buying flowers for people, they invariably love receiving them.

Yesterday, my neighbour took a parcel in for me I bought her a small bouquet to say thank you. I appreciated her help.

Whatwouldyoudo24 · 28/06/2023 08:57

I bought my 3 and 4 year old daughters some flowers because they’d had a hard week of transition days and they love flowers, they’re still on their bedside tables now over a week later too!

Stompythedinosaur · 28/06/2023 08:59

For a friend from work who had me and my dc round to her farm to bottle feed her lambs.

Lovelydovey · 28/06/2023 08:59

I bought all of my team (men included) a bunch of daffodils when I saw them for the first time this year. Made for a very pretty office before they all took them home.

Eyesopenwideawake · 28/06/2023 09:01

My new found half sisters in California, to thank them for giving me a great time when I went to meet them for the first time.

ModerationInEverything · 28/06/2023 09:03

I bought flowers for the pastoral support person who helped me keep my anxious y11 in school and get her through the exams.
Ds bought me a bunch in Tesco yesterday "because I know you like them".

This thread is an antidote to bad news.

TemporaryNaming · 28/06/2023 09:05

I sent my friend with some flowers as she had been having a bit of a tough time. I usually bring people flowers if I'm visiting for dinner/coffee too they always make people smile & can be inexpensive.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 28/06/2023 09:09

To a friend who spent the best part of a weekend sitting with me in hospital whilst I was waiting to be seen (and very poorly).

poptypingchef · 28/06/2023 09:13

I bought flowers twice in the last month. Both times for the host when we have been invited round for a BBQ/to stay the weekend

PuttingDownRoots · 28/06/2023 09:16

Someone bought the Scout Leader fliwrs to say thank you after camp.

HeeyMacarena · 28/06/2023 09:16

I live far away from my grandmothers so don[t see the, regularly. So I occasionally send flowers just to let them know I love and miss them.

I sent Christmas flowers to an older friend who[s wife had died the previous winter. His wife always decorated the house so nicely and I wanted him to have some Christmas cheer.

Dillydollydingdong · 28/06/2023 09:18

My friend took a group of us out for the day, organised the activities and very generously paid for everything. We had a lovely day. I sent a bouquet on behalf of us all .

Wicksytricksy · 28/06/2023 09:22

Brought my MIL some to say thanks for looking after the kids at short notice.

Brought my DM some because she'd had a crappy few days.

Brought myself some because I love flowers.

Anyotherdude · 28/06/2023 09:28

My friend’s pet died and my friend was devastated so I bought her flowers in memory of the pet.

TeeBee · 28/06/2023 09:33

Last week to a lovely lady who had gone to a lot of effort preparing an afternoon tea for a group of us who had worked with her husband decades ago. They were very welcoming and gracious hosts.

SomePosters · 28/06/2023 09:38

For my mum.

I buy her flowers semi regularly because she loves them so much and she does so much to help make my life easier I want her to feel appreciated and I know that having a visual reminder that she is loved and appreciated makes a big impact on her mental health.
They aren’t fancy expensive bunches in fact they are often reduced supermarket ones because I’m on a very low income but she’s knows I was thinking of her and appreciate her.

ChickenRat · 28/06/2023 09:45

My friend got a new job, it was a significantly better opportunity for her than her old job and she really deserved it after a difficult year

Curtains70 · 28/06/2023 09:46

Mum and MIL for all the help we get off them.

gannett · 28/06/2023 09:49

I don't really get flowers. They're like cards, they just seem pointless to me. What am I meant to do with them? Then they get thrown away in a matter of days. I've never bought flowers for anyone nor wanted to receive them myself. I did buy DP some chilli plants one year though.

Preferred gifts in my book are food and drink. If I get flowers I have to remember to do the whole fake smile bit, if I get wine or cheese or cake I'm in genuine raptures.

TheChosenTwo · 28/06/2023 09:53

Yesterday for a friend who just received a cancer diagnosis, so not really a get well soon gesture but more of a ‘sending love’ one. They are colourful and really cheerful.
dh bought me home some gorgeous peonies on Sunday, they are beautiful and I love walking into my kitchen to see fresh flowers.
