What did you last but someone flowers for?

Not included is mother day / birthday / get well soon

When did you last buy someone flowers for a reason that may not be considered the norm. (As above)

I received flowers as they were intended for someone else at a hobby but they didn't show. I was still grateful for them as the person could have taken them home for themselves.

I bought someone flowers recently to show gratitude for a selfless act they did which benefited our family.

I bought some for my friend who was hosting us for the weekend at short notice. A few days before that I got some for my MIL, just because.

Tree12 · 28/06/2023 18:40

Yesterday for my mil because she’s generally ace and deserves flowers!

I made a bouquet from my garden and gave them to a hospice for the reception area- they were very well received.

Love this

I work with 3 amazing teaching assistants! We had had a tough week a few weeks ago! So on the Friday I bought them all a bunch of flowers! Sometimes buy them chocs as well! I couldn't do my job without them!

hiredandsqueak · 28/06/2023 20:44

For my dd, for no other reason than she was tired out after a hard week at work and dgs's birthday weekend. She and dgs love flowers in fact dgs believed I had bought them for him for his birthday.

Merrow · 28/06/2023 20:46

I bought flowers today because DS1 (who is 4) randomly decided he wanted to get them for DP. It reminded me that he can be a very lovely child, which is good because I'm mostly experiencing the challenging side of being 4!

One of my colleagues a week or so ago who was having a spectacularly rubbish day and I came back from being out with a bunch of flowers for her. I also popped to see another colleague and her baby and took some for her.

For me it was a few months back, we had gone to the hospital to see dh's cousin who was very unwell, we popped into the M&S and they had reduced a bedraggled orchid to about £3, I got is as the pot was nice. She passed away the next day but the Orchid has truly blossomed. It makes me smile every day.

I bought my daughters flowers on Sunday. Either me or DH will get them flowers every couple of months for their bedrooms.

beeskipa · 28/06/2023 20:55

I bought DH some flowers recently because he'd never been bought flowers! He was so chuffed, it was very cute.

pinkberet · 28/06/2023 20:58

I bought my friend a bunch of flowers for picking my children up from school so they didn't have to go to after school club. They don't enjoy after school and thoroughly enjoy their time with her. It was only an hour and a half but it changed my children's day for the better

cassiatwenty · 28/06/2023 21:06

I bought myself a gorgeous and rather expensive bunch of summer flowers the other day. I'm having a hugely hard time dealing with the fall/out from a horrible safeguarding issue... and for confidentiality reasons haven't been able to talk to anyone about it in detail,
So I bought the flowers I know someone else would buy me if only they knew!

baggiesmalls · 28/06/2023 21:32

I've just got a bloom and wild subscription for my dd

Cherryblossom1985 · 28/06/2023 21:37

A few weeks ago I bought flowers as a thank you for a stranger a few streets away who saw my post about my missing rescue cat and contacted me.

My cat had been sleeping in her back garden.
She let me come and try to catch her. When that didn't work, she let me come back the next night and set up a trap.

I got a call from her at 11.30 pm to let me know it had worked and she calmed my distressed cat down until I arrived.

I buy flowers for my mum and for my cousin every time I see them.

Sunshinebuttercupsrainbows · 28/06/2023 21:41

I recently bought a plant for a very old friend when I went to hers for coffee. We had a bumpy year last year with some difficulties that nearly ended the friendship and we’ve recently been Speaking more as she has supported me through a difficult time. I turned up with her plant, and she had one for me too :)

Hopeishere52 · 28/06/2023 21:51

I bought flowers for my mum today, I just wanted to brighten her day. She is disabled and cannot get out independently, she has cancer and everyday seems to get harder and harder for her…

Merryoldgoat · 28/06/2023 21:53

I bought a colleague some flowers for their birthday, a plant for two colleagues who work together in an office who had a hard time at work.

I love giving and receiving flowers.

Niftyswiftie · 28/06/2023 21:59

I've never bought anyone flowers.

Diversion · 28/06/2023 22:00

One of my daughters, as she and her partner have been together 10 years and although not married it is still important that we celebrate their special day just as we do on our married children's wedding anniversaries. My Mum always had flowers in the house and after we lost her I always said that there would always be flowers there. My Dad has been away for a few weeks and is due to return home soon and so will make sure that he has a vase of flowers when he returns.

RoseMartha · 28/06/2023 22:00

Yesterday. For a family member who isn't well.

GreenMarigold · 28/06/2023 22:01

I bought flowers a few weeks ago to say thank you to our neighbour for her patience whilst we had building work done.

Corgilicious · 28/06/2023 22:02

Peonies for my niece at the start of her A-levels, so she had something lovely in her room while she was revising.
