To think Tyrion was the villain?

I mean who cares it ended ages ago but with the sequel of Jon Snow (I think is happening?) I’ve rewatched a few episodes.

He sacrificed Varys to save himself, a friend who saved his life. He was also a crap hand of The Queen. He encouraged Jon to kill Dani.

And he got away with no consequences. Loved him throughout but that final season

Nah with Tyrion it really was a kill or be killed situation. You play the game of thrones, you win or you die! He was wily enough to survive but the ending really did him dirty. He didn’t feature in the book so was essentially scrubbed out, didn’t really get that but the ending was such a hot mess I’d lost any emotional investment by that point.

Ardiaei · 26/06/2023 22:51

Most of them were grey. Neither all good nor all bad.

BiscuitsandPuffin · 26/06/2023 22:51

OMG spoilers much????? Arrgh.
I know, I know, I shouldn't have clicked on it given that I never got around to finishing it but seriously.

PicturesOfDogs · 26/06/2023 22:52

The only villains in the show were D&D.

It was such a good show, and they just fucked it up.

I’m so bitter. I just disregard anything that happened after s5

DrSbaitso · 26/06/2023 22:52

I think most of them were meant to be complex characters.

That ending, though. I still haven't recovered.

King Bran, Doer of Nothing.

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/06/2023 22:53

No, he did what he had to do.

It was on 4/5 years ago?!?

Behave with your spoiler alert requests.

Also don’t bother. We don’t need any more D&D victims this late in the game.

Who's the other D?

PicturesOfDogs · 26/06/2023 22:55

ChildofKeynes · 26/06/2023 22:54

Who's the other D?

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
The show writers.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 26/06/2023 22:56

No Tyrion isn't the villain

This is what pissed me right off about the end - Bran's likeness tells everyone he isn't Bran anymore he's The Three Eyed Raven

Bran is made King, but he can't be King Bran The Broken because he's the fucking Three Eyed Raven.

Raven is the villain because he manipulates his way to the throne

Last series was appalling absolutely stank

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 26/06/2023 22:58

D & D are doing 3 Body Problem on Netflix next the books are complete so they can't shit the bed too badly

continentallentil · 26/06/2023 23:07

I think he was just surviving. Getting rid of D was the only thing to do, V put himself in the line of fire. Etc.

FanFanBam · 26/06/2023 23:07

I think they should’ve ended it with the battle / night king episode, and not had the bit after that.

Oh, I see! I thought you were talking about the characters and couldn't think of any Ds aside from Daenerys.

GasPanic · 26/06/2023 23:08

Surely there were a lot more unpleasant people around than Tyrion ?

Lord Baelish.
Jamie
Cerci
Tywin
Stannis.
Melisandre.

All beat Tyrion to title of biggest asshole if you ask me.

It has been around a really long time though!

TheGirlWhoLived · 26/06/2023 23:09

Not including Ramsay Bolton in your list? It’s a good job I liked misfits otherwise I would never watch him again!

AspiringMermaid · 26/06/2023 23:11

Tyrion in the show had pretty much zero character development past killing shae, after that all his plans were dumb and failed, he barely added to the story and just was there looking forlorn. I don't think Tyrion had a real choice with varys, as showrunners tried to make the audience have a lot of sympathy for him, boring and likable. Book Tyrion though 100% a villain well worth the read, George.R.R Martin calls Tyrion greyest of the grey

GasPanic · 26/06/2023 23:11

I forgot about him.

Yes, he wasn't very nice. Certainly worse than Tyrion.

MusicInAWord · 26/06/2023 23:15

But the real genius of GOT was that you ended up loving truly despicable people. None of them were decent people, all of them were flawed, but you could still find something likeable in almost all of them.

cassiatwenty · 26/06/2023 23:20

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit I agree with you, I think it was about the Raven all along.

Somehow I knew about the ending before spoilers appeared

AP5Diva · 26/06/2023 23:24

All the main characters were villains, especially the women. A bit of the old give a woman power and she goes mad and starts with the “off with your head” orders.

anonacfr · 26/06/2023 23:25

The most ridiculous thing in that last episode is that a former slave was given the authority to exile the true heir to the throne.

Once Daenerys was done, her army leader should have been demoted, and considering what happened a generation prior, probably executed for butchering the citizens of Kings Landing.

Instead, he's treated like a regent?

Stupid.

I know! Who would have ever thought after episode 1 you’d ever be rooting for Jaime!

It’s genuinely one of my favourite book series of all time, although resigned myself to the fact we may not get the end of it.

I think that’s why I was so pissed off at the later series, you could tell it just crumbled once they ran out of source material
