To think Phillip schofield scandal is homophobia?

Have I missed something in that the guy Philip had the affair with was not a minor?

He was a minor when they met, as was Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne for example and no one has anything bad to say about that relationship.

I'm not sticking up for Philip and really dislike him, and also think even if the runner was above the age of consent is most definitely questionable behaviour but I can't help think of it was a heterosexual affair it would not be treated in the same way?

Think it's the fact of the age gap, the runner seemed "vulnerable". Philip was married with children and much older than him and should have known better. Too many lies and cover ups for there not to be more

Yabu. Any senior staff member who has an affair with a runner is in a position of power so it is morally wrong. If Phil was a 60yr old runner and him 20 and they met then it's weird but OK. As he knew him as a child, mentored him and was senior to him at work it's illegal possibly and certainly immoral. Even without knowing him as a child the power dynamic is an issue.

If you had any experience of mentoring a young person who wants to break into a highly competitive industry you would know how vulnerable they are and how disgusting Philip Schofield is. Nothing to do with his sexuality.

Would you be OK with a married man in his fifties having an affair with a 20 year old woman who he met when he was very senior in an organisation she was very junior in and he had given her advice about how to further her career? Would you be OK if that were your daughter?

If he had had an affair with a 40 year old man, I don’t think anyone would have raised an eyebrow so YABU. The man in question was much younger, professionally inexperienced and Schofield was in a position of authority and interest. The power dynamic wasn’t equal.

It's because he cheated on his wife. Understandably people are upset about that. He isn't a victim. He didn't have to marry.

Because it was a gay relationship I think there has been more drama TBH . Cheryl also didn’t’groom’ Liam . They had many years where they were doing their own thing .

There must be more to it because don't get me wrong it is not good at all and isn't ok - but equally the reaction seems overly extreme.

I get why it would be an issue, but the publicity around this is way bigger than I would expect

I don't care what sex Schofield or the young person he had sex with are. I do care about celebrities using their power and position to sexually exploit young people.

People don't care that he is gay. They care that he is a vile individual who groomed someone and treated them like shit. They care that he lied to his family, his wife. They care that he knew about his brothers abusive behaviour and did nothing.

I can't believe he's 15 in that photo. I know boys mature at different rates but he looks far younger than that in the photo.

He groomed this lad from when he was a child. He had contact with him throughout childhood, got him a job and then started having sex with him when it was ‘legal’. This wasn’t a relationship, it was grooming and abuse. There was an imbalance of power. He lied to everyone. He is a predator.

Although I’m often not a fan of age gap relationships, Cheryl met Liam at an audition, a public one. There’s nothing to suggest she had contact with him or groomed him after that. She then met him as an adult, he was as famous, probably more famous, as rich etc, he’d travelled the world and had life experience. After a time they appeared in public together, they were a proper couple. There was no imbalance, no cover ups.

Suspicious behaviour from you trying to say it’s homophobia and make comparisons where there are none. Fuck all go do with homophobia abc everything to do with him being a predator.
