How often do you change your bedding?

Just as the title says really, wanted some other input as to how often bedding should be changed!

I normally do every two weeks but now I'm paranoid it should be being done weekly

Every 10 days or so - pillow cases more often.

trickyfriendsone · 26/04/2023 09:54

Every 7-10 days. I work 6 on 4 off and tend to do it on my first day off sometimes earlier if it's been particularly hot.
There's only me in the bed so it doesn't get too gross

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 26/04/2023 09:55

Every week - roughly, depending on the weather. If it's been pouring down and forecast to continue, I can run to two, two and a half weeks. More than that I start to get twitchy. I have to dry outside on the line and I like to wash my bedding when I've got two or more days off so I wake up in a clean bed to the luxury of not having to go to work.

I have the dog in with me in the mornings, and I shower before bed, change my pyjamas when I do the bedding, and sleep alone, if that helps in anyone's opinions.

Pillow cases weekly, because god knows what DH does to them but his looks grubby very quickly! Duvet cover and fitted sheet fortnightly.

Do your pillowcases not match your duvet then?
This has blown my mind-I’ve never heard of anyone changing pillowcases but not rest of bed 😁

Mincedpies · 26/04/2023 09:55

We change ours weekly, regardless of season. Personally I would find it grossly dirty to have bedding on any longer but I appreciate other people feel differently!

mainsfed · 26/04/2023 09:56

Every two weeks is plenty.

Brace yourself, there are some here who claim to change their bedding and towels daily!

SunnyLion · 26/04/2023 09:58

Weekly or sometimes twice a week depending on how active we have been 😄

PlantKi1ler · 26/04/2023 09:59

I do mine once a week.

JadeSeahorse · 26/04/2023 10:01

Every Friday.

All our bedding is white and from the same place, we have 2 duvet covers but 4 sets of pillow cases.

Theoldwoman · 26/04/2023 10:02

We grew up 60’s/70’s weekly so I have continued, however I live in a very hot climate so change it twice a week in hot weather.

There is nothing better than getting into clean sheets.

Firsttimecaller · 26/04/2023 10:04

I have a system that feels clean but cuts down on laundry. I take my duvet out to be washed once a year on a hot week in July. I have two mattress protector covers, they are changed once every two months. For every one duvet cover I have two sets of matching fitted sheets & pillow cases. The bottom half of the bed (sheet & pillows) is changed weekly, the duvet is flipped over on the middle week and changed fortnightly. So the full set is washed on the day the duvet cover is changed every two weeks. So I only need two full sets of bedding. I don't have to worry about getting it dried quickly as the second set is always available. Strict rules about no food or drink in the bedroom so everything's pretty tidy.

Whichwhatnow · 26/04/2023 10:09

Weekly but that's only because our cleaner does it for us 😬

If it was just me and DH it'd probably be once a month cos we're pretty slovenly by nature.

LittleFreakJezebel · 26/04/2023 10:12

I aim for once a fortnight but in reality it's more like every 3 weeks.

Ifailed · 26/04/2023 10:13

As often as this question is asked on mumsnet.

Kyse · 26/04/2023 10:13

@Daffodil92 mine don't always! I use a silk pillowcase for my side, but sometimes clash different patterns

Hadjab · 26/04/2023 10:38

Cluelessat33 · 26/04/2023 09:51

Every week or 2 weeks depending on time of year, other stuff in the wash, whether I can get it dry outside etc. People get weirdly upset about how often other people wash their stuff. My Mum was a nurse and we grew up changing sheets every other week. I've not died yet and I don't consider myself smelly or dirty, but I've read threads where people change them every day and are disgusted by people who don't. What they do with their sheets to merit changing that often, I have no idea.

It takes me about an hour to do my bed, mainly because I get super bored doing it, and I faff about spraying each layer with Rituals linen spray - I couldn’t imagine doing that every day 🤣

catinthesunshine · 26/04/2023 10:40

Every 5-7 days. Takes 10 minutes.

Every 2 weeks is a bit grim, doesn’t it smell?

Bloopsie · 26/04/2023 10:41

Once a week at most, also common to change it daily or more than once a day due to disabled child having accidents on the beds

Hbh17 · 26/04/2023 10:42

Why do people ask these questions? There are no rules, so the only correct answer is "as often as I choose".

ichundich · 26/04/2023 10:42

Weekly, haha! Every 3-5 weeks here, which is absolutely filthy by MN standards.

Bloopsie · 26/04/2023 10:43

I know elderly person who said she does it..twice a year-once in the winter and once in the summer.

We have white duvet covers, sheets and pillowcases, so nothing needs to match. Any pillowcase goes with any duvet cover - one less thing to think about.

crochetmylifeaway · 26/04/2023 10:45

Every week but I went 10 days this time because I've been too busy. If you are happy with your timeframe that's fine
