My son has one toy who goes everywhere with him. He often says he couldn't bear to be without him and can't sleep without him. Well, some children threw it in a river when he very briefly left it at the park yesterday. The devastation is awful. Does anyone have a bunny like this they're willing to part with? All costs covered. My son washed him recently and found his nose is actually pink.

Thank you.

Yes looks like a jellycat rabbit. They're fairly popular but different sizes/colours.
I'm so sad for your boy, did he see them throw it in the river? Awful children.

He didn't see it and I don't think it was done maliciously. Just high spirits. They did help to look for it afterwards.

Thank you for this. I think that's an updated one. For some reason Hoppy has to look exactly like Hoppy.

If it’s the tiny one about six inches you can get them with the little soother blanket attached. The blanket is lightly stitched on so can he removed (carefully). You can get them in a few places Fenwicks and Jojo usually have them in.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 25/04/2023 11:08

Poor little lad, that's horrible. Some kids deliberately ripped the arm off one of my toys when I first started school. I will never quite shake off how devastated it made me feel. I also cried for years about a lost bunny!

Hope you manage to find an identical twin for Hoppy very soon!

I find it difficult to understand how throwing a child's toy into a river isn't malicious.

Desperatelyseekingbunny · 25/04/2023 11:12

I found a picture of it with my son for size reference. As you can he has other slightly larger ones in different colours but they're not the precious one.

We didn't buy the toy ourselves - it was found in the garden of a house we moved into several years ago.

You're probably right. I'm beyond gutted.

I have this one but I think it's medium and a beige colour with no pink nose.
That's my hand next to it.

Katinkak8 · 25/04/2023 11:53

As PP have said, I think Hoppy is the jellycat bashful bunny in beige, size medium. My Dd also has the same bunny and we tried to buy a spare at Christmas time because she is so attached to her. We couldn't get one anywhere in the same size/right colour (but to be honest, I'm not sure a spare would have worked because her current toy is so well-loved!)

I really hope that you manage to find a replacement.

Rinkydinkydoodle · 25/04/2023 11:57

Can’t 100% tell if he’s a small grey bashful bunny or a small beige bashful bunny, but there are a few candidates on eBay, a couple of them look plausibly scuffed up as well. We had a similar missing persons trauma when we left Elmo behind in Liverpool, sorry for your loss 🐰

Have you had a look on Ebay? There are lots on there. I haven’t done it for a while, but you used to be able to set up alerts for similar listings, so you don’t miss any new ones that are listed.

Something similar happened to my middle dc when they were little. He was in his pushchair at the village shop when dm handed him an ice lolly and he must have dropped his bunny to take the lolly. We realised as soon as we got home and went straight back, but there was no sign. He was absolutely inconsolable.

We made ‘Have you seen this bunny?’ posters and put them up locally and a lady got in touch to say her lovey son had seen some teenagers kicking it around outside the shop, then dumping it in a bin, so he rescued it, took it home and gave it a bath. Apparently he told his mum ‘Someone loves that bunny, those boys shouldn’t have done that!’ He was so pleased when he found out that my dc was looking for it and his mum brought him round to give it back. When she rang to say they had it, I asked what reward would really make his day and his mum said chocolate, so we gave him a massive hoard of chocolate and he was over the moon.

After that I made a conscious effort to buy two or three of each of my dcs favourite cuddlies, which involved regular Ebay searches as none of them were still available in the shops. Now two of them are adults and one is an older teen and they all have a nice clean version in their memory box, as well as the threadbare ones that have been snuggled to death.

Doggi · 25/04/2023 11:59

I collect Jellycats, the bunnies in the bed are small bashfuls. Luckily not one that is now retired and rare (some sell for £1000+). Could he be smaller than the other two due to being so loved? Or perhaps he was attached to a soother

@Overitallnow yours is a slackajack bunny :)

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 25/04/2023 12:00

The fur doesn't look right for jellycat, but for the size I would say its identical to my dd which came from tesco, I'll find a photo
