Dogs peeing on car tyres

whyareallthegoodonesgone · 20/04/2023 10:09

Put on AIBU for traffic-
need some advice-
how do I word a message to put on road WhatsApp group?
basically- we have 2 cars- one on drive one outside our hedge on road
daily approx 2-3 times a day- someone is letting their dog pee on the car tyres.
firstly- disgusting. Why??? Just why??? Secondly there are bushes, verges and trees all along the road!
I am sick of cleaning it constantly now.
we have a child with severe contact anaphylactic allergies- we don’t even use that car unless it’s myself or hubby using it alone.
I don’t know who it is that’s doing it.
so wanted to compose a message to put on the road WhatsApp group that doesn’t come across as a doormat or being bitchy either.
appreciate any replies x

@Mostar sickening attitude

My apologies. Friday facetiousness, but yeah, bad taste.

(Apart from calling fox hunters a bunch of twats.)

IrregularChoiceFan · 21/04/2023 18:37

Another thing to add to my ever growing 'mumsnetty things I wouldn't notice' list 🤣

Vitriolinsanity · 21/04/2023 18:55

I find dogs don't wee up cars parked with all 4 wheels on the road. It's when the car has parked on the pavement that the dog sees it as just another wall/tree/fence etc.

So, my advice is to park correctly and likely your problem will go away.

Blossomtoes · 21/04/2023 18:56

are you saying people who don't have off road parking should not invest or take pride in nice cars?

It’s sensible not to. We don’t have off road parking and accept that occasional damage is inevitable. Until we had a car with automatic retractable wing mirrors we lost them quite frequently. It goes with the territory.

nomoredriving · 21/04/2023 18:58

@Mostar animal cruelty is a huge red flag for violence against people.

XenoBitch · 21/04/2023 18:59

You moan about a dog peeing on your car, but I can guarantee you would also be posting about a dog peeing on your hedge too.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 21/04/2023 19:00

Why are you washing dog wee off the tyres? Just wait for it to rain. And sure you've driven over worse.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 21/04/2023 19:02

Unless you're rubbing your chid against the tyres...

So you do you avoid every lamp post and tree while out and about? And pavements? Completely over the top.

AlwaysGinPlease · 21/04/2023 19:02

@Mostar apology accepted. Agree with the twats on horses. Utter cunts the lot of them.

One subject at a time we are on about dog owners thinking it acceptable to let there dogs piss on other peoples possessions

as for those who say they can’t stop they can
a woman regularly walk her dog lets it wonder on to top if my drive then piss on my gate post stinks and I weed there by hand and have to paint it
told her not to do it she carried in most days told her fair enough her dog was on my drive sniffing and licking
advised her I use industrial weed killer and says to keep away from pets
funny enough doesn’t stop at my driveway anymore

Well I'm sick of car fanatics dangerously mounting and parking on pavements and cluttering public roads (with vehicles that are increasingly oversized for most uses) to the point that those of us using our legs can barely see to cross!

I already pointedly fold in mirrors, test whether my lad's SN buggy can fit through by harming the paint if I have to, and take no care to prevent my heavy shopping bouncing off these people's precious.

I shall have to make my next dog a larger, male one so that they can cover them in piss too!

They're not on her property, they're on a public pavement, like her car. Unlike her car, they belong there.

Where would that be? Why would anyone in the UK in a residential house need a gun?
Farmers, yes.

Daffodilsandtuplips · 21/04/2023 19:21

I get it OP, the bloke over the road let his dog out every day, twice a day. It made a beeline for our cars wheels and tyres. in answer to those who don’t see why it’s a big deal or don’t see the problem it isn’t funny if you don’t notice if and step on it and you tread it over your carpets. IIt also stinks and will eventually erode the wheels. It’s also a pain having to either lug a bucket of water or drag a hosepipe out to rinse it away.

2bazookas · 21/04/2023 19:22

What do you think happens when a dog pees? Do you think dog owners take them to a spot and say, "There you are, sport, go and have your pee now," and said dog pees?

Yes, they do. Guide Dogs for the blind are trained to do that, and so were all my dogs. Their command word is "Busy".

Guide dogs are trained and live by a different standard to your average pet dog. Is ridiculous to compare the two.

Absolutely.

Apologies for the facetiousness and misjudgment.

DelphiniumsBlueWildRose · 21/04/2023 20:15

How the hell do you even know they did it? ?

DelphiniumsBlueWildRose · 21/04/2023 20:22

whyareallthegoodonesgone · 20/04/2023 10:27

@ejbaxa thank you, exactly my point, one offs ok fair enough- but daily 2-3 times a day- especially when I’ve even washed the car!

HOW DO YOU KNOW OP???

Seriously I think you're taking the Michael here!

There's another thread (which I highly recommend) discussing products that don't exist but really should.

Obviously an internet-enabled Dog Piss Car Cam Alarm for 360° 24/7 pee protection. Sorted.

nomoredriving · 21/04/2023 20:32

@Mostar fair enough.

Thanks

Please don't send a message. You don't want to be "that" person, especially in a close community.

I get that it annoys you to find pee on your car tyre, but I think you should just let it go. It's a car tyre. Every time you drive the car the tyres are in contact with much much worse things than dog pee.

I think she is already “that” person!

DelphiniumsBlueWildRose · 21/04/2023 20:36

You have made me giggle this evening OP.

Thoughts and prayers 🙏

There was a whole thread the other week about people bagging their dog poo and putting in in front garden bins. People are OBSESSED!

hungryh1ppo · 21/04/2023 20:45

You can buy a spray that deters dogs from marking, unfortunately has been mentioned , once one dog has peed on your car all the others will want

Petsly Dog & Cat Urine Repellent Spray - Dog Pee Repellent Spray: A Natural Puppy Training Spray & Pet Corrector Spray For Dogs - Dog Spray & Cat Repellent Spray to Stop Dogs Urinating, 500ml amzn.eu/d/hnN77NG

I don't let my dog pee on cars and would be miffed if I saw someone else letting theirs but I wouldn't send the message
