Dogs peeing on car tyres

whyareallthegoodonesgone · 20/04/2023 10:09

Put on AIBU for traffic-
need some advice-
how do I word a message to put on road WhatsApp group?
basically- we have 2 cars- one on drive one outside our hedge on road
daily approx 2-3 times a day- someone is letting their dog pee on the car tyres.
firstly- disgusting. Why??? Just why??? Secondly there are bushes, verges and trees all along the road!
I am sick of cleaning it constantly now.
we have a child with severe contact anaphylactic allergies- we don’t even use that car unless it’s myself or hubby using it alone.
I don’t know who it is that’s doing it.
so wanted to compose a message to put on the road WhatsApp group that doesn’t come across as a doormat or being bitchy either.
appreciate any replies x

Disclaimer not rtft

OP the problem you now have is that your tyre has become part of the local Pee-Mail chain for the dogs. So chances are it’s multiple dogs now not just the original one. Have you tried cleaning the tyres with an enzyme cleaner? Something like this.
Simple Solution Urine Destroyer Enzymatic Cleaner | Pet Stain and Odour Remover with Pro-bacteria Cleaning Power - 1 Ltr https://amzn.eu/d/elBSeKF

it breaks the smells down so the dogs no longer have a pee-Mail to reply to. Just put some in a spray bottle and liberally spay the affected tyres.

No you cannot! Your going to swerve into oncoming vehicle or perform an emergency stop if you come across a dead animal in a road?

Depends what kind of animal it is, I would think. I mean, a dead cow, you can see that a way off, so you wouldn't need to do an emergency stop, or at least you shouldn't. In fairness, I live in a town and thus know little of dead things on country roads and how avoidable they are.

nomoredriving · 21/04/2023 12:18

@Mostar let's assume it's a fox on a motorway?

Emergency stop or swerve to avoid?

Skinnydogz · 21/04/2023 12:36

It's getting worse because your tyres smell like dog wee now. Spray them down with an enzymatic cleaner to remove the pee smell and it should stop. Annoying but it's the only thing you can do. Dogs pee on places whwre other dogs pee

2bazookas · 21/04/2023 12:37

we have a child with severe contact anaphylactic allergies

Pee is pee is pee. Your toilet is full of it. Not to mention the potty, and underwear dribbles.

Your child is in far more danger from urine in the home bathroom, pissed by you and your husband.

It would be safer if your husband pissed outdoors, on the car tyres where the child will never drink it. Sorry I have no suggestions for your own micturition.

I’m shocked at all the people who wouldn’t care about having dogs piss on their cars multiple times a day! Of course it’s disgusting. I’d write a message along the lines of “I know it’s not always possible to control where dogs go, but if you could try it would be much appreciated as it’s damaging the alloys”.

78gingernuts · 21/04/2023 12:59

So the car on the road is not used often and so in same same place for long periods, in a dog's mind that is the same as a static tree or a bush. It's probably more than one dog, scent marking the area, leaving a calling card for the next dog to investigate.

I know my dog finds the best sniffs on cars, probably cos they move about and collect so many. But as a girl she won't cock her leg on one.

Blossomtoes · 21/04/2023 13:07

You’re shocked because not everyone is the same as you? Our second car is parked in a public car park two minutes walk from our house. I have no idea whether its tyres are pissed on by dogs, neither do I care. It’s a car, a means of getting from A to B, not a sacred icon.

WCRoulade · 21/04/2023 13:12

Why are people on MN so obsessed with controlling where dogs urinate in the great outdoors?😖

Doesn't other me one bit, but I've got a life to get on with so 🤷‍♀️.

I’m hoping that all the negative responses to OP are just mumsnet phenomenon as I can’t seriously believe that most people would be happy to have their car pee’d on by dogs multiple times a day, every day!! Of course you do not expect your car wheels to be sterile and of course if the car is parked on a public road then it will occasionally get pee’d on by animals (dogs, foxes cats etc) but this sounds extreme! If you own a dog no one expects that they will never pee on a car but as a respectful human being and responsible dog owner you surely should be making some attempt to make sure this is not a regular occurrence and to teach your dog where it’s ok and not ok to pee! If the car is getting damaged and presumably stinks of dog pee then I don’t think it’s unreasonable that the OP would politely ask for this to stop!

Mrsdht · 21/04/2023 13:39

This whole thing is batshit. And so is the poster in my opinion. Wafting piss smell .parking on pavements. Children with allergies. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I mean what?
She will have a heart attack if she realises random cats shit in her garden and bury it So she can't see. Post it in the group. I want to see the screenshots

Devoutspoken · 21/04/2023 13:41

Dogs probably piss on my bike, wouldn't know. If I leave it outside, I can't really complain

LuvSmallDogs · 21/04/2023 13:47

rwalker · 21/04/2023 11:27

Spot the entitled dog owner

its not so much the dog piss or it’s a tyre it’s the complete lack of respect for other peoples possessions to think it’s ok to let your dog to piss on them

How about the complete lack of respect for pedestrians, to park on the pavement? Dogs belong on the pavement more than OP's car which is adding unnecessary wear and tear to them.

Roughashouses · 21/04/2023 13:52

Why is it only dogs that cause this level of annoyance/aggression? Why are there not numerous weekly threads on people spitting in the street, or leaving their chewing gum everywhere? Or dropping rubbish. Kids smoking in playgrounds or adding graffiti everywhere?

Devoutspoken · 21/04/2023 14:11

Foxes, cats, rats, mice, birds, - the great outdoors is full of pesky pissing and pooing creatures

Accelerate. Just hit the fucker. If it's on the motorway it's probably already getting hunted down by some twats on horses.

One subject at a time we are on about dog owners thinking it acceptable to let there dogs piss on other peoples possessions

as for those who say they can’t stop they can
a woman regularly walk her dog lets it wonder on to top if my drive then piss on my gate post stinks and I weed there by hand and have to paint it
told her not to do it she carried in most days told her fair enough her dog was on my drive sniffing and licking
advised her I use industrial weed killer and says to keep away from pets
funny enough doesn’t stop at my driveway anymore

Devoutspoken · 21/04/2023 16:33

I'm not a big fan of dogs pissing everywhere but if you leave something in a public place I'm not sure you can complain

AlwaysGinPlease · 21/04/2023 17:24

@Mostar sickening attitude

Brilliant so don't complain when drunks piss all over the front door of your house or garden gate as its a public place, or are you saying people who don't have off road parking should not invest or take pride in nice cars? 🙄
