Dogs peeing on car tyres

whyareallthegoodonesgone · 20/04/2023 10:09

Put on AIBU for traffic-
need some advice-
how do I word a message to put on road WhatsApp group?
basically- we have 2 cars- one on drive one outside our hedge on road
daily approx 2-3 times a day- someone is letting their dog pee on the car tyres.
firstly- disgusting. Why??? Just why??? Secondly there are bushes, verges and trees all along the road!
I am sick of cleaning it constantly now.
we have a child with severe contact anaphylactic allergies- we don’t even use that car unless it’s myself or hubby using it alone.
I don’t know who it is that’s doing it.
so wanted to compose a message to put on the road WhatsApp group that doesn’t come across as a doormat or being bitchy either.
appreciate any replies x

Unless there is mud or other debris on them, or unless you have fancy white wall tyres on a vintage car, why do you wash tyres so religiously. not really sure this is something to get exercised about. We are in "horse riders should clear up their horse's poo" territory

Someone on a local Facebook page complained about this a few months ago and had her arse handed to her in the comments section. It was brutal/bloody hilarious.
I pull my dog away if he attempts to cock his leg up a car or bin but what happens if a Tom cat sprays up your car or a fox takes aim? Ate you parked on the kerb at all? My experience is my dog only tried to aim at the card parked half in the kerb ( which they shouldn't technically be).

LlynTegid · 20/04/2023 10:35

I doubt it will be one of the people on the What's App group. Maybe you'll need to be watching out when dogs are walked.

Apologies for the many typos!

We had someone complain about this on the local Facebook group, hundreds of posts of ridicule. Go for it OP, you’ll give your neighbours a good laugh.

Cheapcookies · 20/04/2023 10:37

This isn't really an issue. Your kids probably touch all sorts out and about that dogs may have also peed on - flowers, walls, the floor. Teach them not to touch your tyres. You probably drive through all sorts so it's a good thing to eat them anyway.

OnNaturesCourse · 20/04/2023 10:38

I wouldn't send a message unless the dog was peeing on the cars paint work, or there was damage to the alloys in same way.

Tyres see a lot worse than dog pee.

Unfortunately it's one of those things that happen when you're parked on the street.

Maybe have a day where you sit outside and try to "catch" who does it so you can have a conversation face to face?

Another thing - are you cleaning the tyres and alloys? If one dog has peed on them they will all smell it and mark/pee on them. You need to try and get rid of the scent, maybe Google a good way to remove dog scent?

Understand how annoying it could feel!

whyareallthegoodonesgone · 20/04/2023 10:38

@bellinisurge i don’t wash my car tyres ‘religiously’ I washed my car- isn’t that what normal people do wash the car once in a while.

shintyminty · 20/04/2023 10:38

You'll get mocked if you put that on a WhatsApp group.

Can you rinse the tyre when you see it with some water?

It's not always easy to pull a dog away when you realise they're starting to pee - I have done so in the past, but sometimes despite my best efforts, some pee goes on the car/wall/fence post

There are trees planted every 3rd house, bushes for almost every house yet this is the only spot someone can find for their dog to do it’s business?

It won’t be the one dog though, it’ll be multiple as they will stop to see over the scent of the previous dog. But yes, even though a car goes on the road through mud, and worse, and gets pooped on by birds etc, it still feels wrong to let your dog piss over someone’s car, I certainly wouldn’t let mine do it.

Grumpsy · 20/04/2023 10:39

Surely this can’t be real.

You know you’ll have driven over far worse than dog pee.

i seriously doubt anyone has trained their dog to deliberately pee on your tyre, although being this petty they have done just that 🤣

i do have a dog, although he’s never peed on a car before, and if he tried I’d drag him away, but he’d probably get a few drops on there before I managed it.

seriously OP I think if this is your biggest concern in life you may need a hobby.

Dotjones · 20/04/2023 10:39

I don't understand why people seem to think it's ok that someone allows their pet to piss on someone else's property. The fact a wild animal might do it is irrelevant. The fact that a driver might drive through a pool of piss is irrelevant. Piss is pretty disgusting to most people, that's why we flush it away down the toilet rather than just squat in the shower to relieve ourselves. Consciously allowing your pet to cover someone else's property with piss is unacceptable.

Surplus2requirements · 20/04/2023 10:40

All dogs should be on leads, wearing muzzles and now nappies...

Won't you think of the children? 😂

GasPanic · 20/04/2023 10:40

I thought dogs piss where other dogs piss to try to mask the scent of the previous pisser.

You may well get a train of dogs going past each pissing in turn.

It is disgusting. Probably not so bad in the winter where the drive and car get hosed down by the rain on a regular basis but not nice in the summer when it will reek. No one wants their car or garden used as an animal toilet, but probably hard to do something about it other than standing guard and glaring at people as they walk past.

Or you could try parking further up the drive.

garlicandsapphires · 20/04/2023 10:40

you wash your car tyres???

shintyminty · 20/04/2023 10:40

How do you know if a puddle on the road that you're about to drive through has animal piss in it or not?

Car tyres drive through all sorts of literal crap.

whyareallthegoodonesgone · 20/04/2023 10:41

The dog is actually cleaning them for you, save you going round on all fours with a toothbrush. Be grateful.

Roughashouses · 20/04/2023 10:42

Tyre covers - here you go, protect those tyres!

If you leave your property in the public highway then you have to accept it's not going to stay clean.

You can't always control where dogs wee. You can control where your private property is kept.

whyareallthegoodonesgone · 20/04/2023 10:43

@OnNaturesCourse that’s the thing- there is damage to the alloy! Which is why I even asked the question

@MandyMotherOfBrian thank you- just common curtesy x

DrMeredithGrey2023 · 20/04/2023 10:44

If there was damage to the alloy, why did you not mention that, but went to the effort of mentioning your daughters allergies, which are irrelevant?

If you park your car on the street you really don't have much control over these things.

jazzandh · 20/04/2023 10:45

As others have said it won't be one dog, it will be multiple dogs, each scent marking your tyre now.

If it is bothering you, then I would give the wheels a good scrub with a bio detergent, or something highly scented to get rid of the smell, and hopefully that will stop them being attracted to your car.

During the last period of snow we had here, I could see exactly where my dog would stop, sniff and mark, due to the piles of yellow snow!

shintyminty · 20/04/2023 10:45

Can you park both cars on the drive?
