Joe Wicks has caused a bit of a stir with a recent Instagram post - thoughts?

Perhaps you could explain what the post actually says so we don’t have to click on a link to find out and then explain what your AIBU is.

AutumnCrow · 17/04/2023 21:10

I’m not on Instagram.

BucketList101 · 17/04/2023 21:11

Supportive of the wife. Not sure why people have to look too much into it.

FLOWER1982 · 17/04/2023 21:11

What’s the problem with it?

alibongo5 · 17/04/2023 21:12

Can't see anything wrong with it myself.

ItsCalledAConversation · 17/04/2023 21:12

Urgh I used to love Joe but all his recent posts are about her. He’s the famous interesting one, she’s just a skinny dolly bird as far as I can see. He seems to hero worship her for popping out kids and then beast of herself back into Coachella-mini-dress-wearing shape. It’s turgid and boring of both of them. I actually unfollowed him today for this reason, so it’s quite funny this post has come up.

Cactuslove · 17/04/2023 21:12

Proud and supportive. What's the big deal?

wincarwoo · 17/04/2023 21:12

Why would he be tone deaf? He's saying that pregnancy shouldn't stop you exercising. Quite agree with that also picking up exercise as soon as safe after the birth. A lot of female YouTube trainers focus on pregnancy and post-partum fitness. It's pretty standard.

Ducksinarow1987 · 17/04/2023 21:12

I don't understand the issue? Am I missing something?

LivingNextDoorToNorma · 17/04/2023 21:13

His wife has worked hard, and he’s proud of her. There’s absolutely nothing for people to be getting worked up about.

Basically he has posted photos and videos of his wife, saying how proud he is of how much effort she has made with keeping fit theoughout 3 pregnancies etx. Sleep deprivation etc. and how great she looks 6 months post partum.

AIBU to find it a bit tone deaf?

Can’t see the problem 🤔

Nice sexism there.

ReUseRepeat · 17/04/2023 21:13

It's a bit tone deaf - plus the videos of her working out are just way too much information

Spiderboy · 17/04/2023 21:14

I wonder how many of those night time wake ups he is doing😂

What's time read about it? Loads of people exercise when pregnant and get back on it straight after.

UWhatNow · 17/04/2023 21:14

If she’d decided to sit on her arse and put on 2 stone and then took her own sweet time to lose the baby weight, I wonder if he’d be just as ‘supportive’? Ugh. Insufferable gym bore.

AtomicBlondeRose · 17/04/2023 21:14

I think he’s evangelical about the benefits of physical movement and fitness and admires that Rosie also practices what he preaches. He is intense and a bit gushy about her but I think it’s sincere, and I don’t think she’s being coerced into anything. And to be honest, if I had a lifestyle a) based around fitness and health and b) generously funded by that too, I might enjoy keeping as fit and in as good shape as her. It must be nice!

Why is it tone deaf? Because some women don’t prioritise fitness after pregnancy or kids that means someone who does isn’t allowed to mention it?

Hankunamatata · 17/04/2023 21:17

It's a bit hmmm tbh. I'm not sure any sleep deprived new mum should feel the need (forced) back into strenuous gym routine she doesn't even like.

It's just another post where new mums will read it and feel crap thag they havnt bounced straight back into 3 gym sessions a week and not pushing themselves

whatapfaff · 17/04/2023 21:17

I don't think he needed to post quite so many videos of his wife's bottom to make his point.

AlwaysGinPlease · 17/04/2023 21:17

I couldn't care less about either of them but really, " just a skinny dolly bird" oof! Jealousy is a very ugly trait. Also, it's no longer the 1960s. Hope that helps.

Pandyluna · 17/04/2023 21:17

I mean they are massively privileged in that they have all the money they want for nannies, right food, chefs, at home PT, access to gym, space, etc etc so I guess some acknowledgment might be nice as that’s not in the reach of most women. But then what could he say if not he’s proud of her for putting the effort

Mochinated · 17/04/2023 21:18

Yeah it's bollocks. Absolutely ridiculous "fitfluencer" fantasy. Not a reasonable benchmark for anyone 4 months pp.

And what does baby's sleep have to do with anything? The issue is the biological changes through pregnancy and pp, not sleep deprivation which can happen to anyone at any stage of life, unrelated to having a baby around.

Tone deaf might not be the right phrase, bloody moron more like.

Grimeduster · 17/04/2023 21:18

I think the problem is he's congratulating her for all her hard work getting fit when they are millionaires with access to a chef, nanny, cleaner, gardener, stylists, personal assistants, etc. Plus she literally lives with a personal trainer!

None of that means she didn't work hard, and well done to her she looks fab. It's just a lot harder to train and shift the baby weight when you've been up all night with your colicky baby before an 8 shift at Sainsburys then home to cook, clean, wash, walk dog, garden, admin, etc.
