Joe Wicks has caused a bit of a stir with a recent Instagram post - thoughts?

I'm not seeing the issue. Her baby isn't a tiny baby and not everyone struggles for months after they give birth.

Conkersinautumn · 17/04/2023 22:08

I don't like the whole sell sell sell nature of their line of work. I occasionally see fitness trainers that (briefly) mention strength and progress but ultimately they all post pictures where the viewer is supposed to objectify the person being photographed in order to sell. Much like IKEA and images of organised, clutter free home environments. It's 100% about sales with zero actual interest in well being.

I can't help but think if they were effective it wouldn't need this constant marketing.

Rolypolyup · 17/04/2023 22:09

... but then I say this as I don't even get a 'you look nice' compliment from my husband 😆 so I'm jealous in that sense 😂

Reading some of these posts you'd think she gave birth 7 weeks ago, not 7 months.

He's probably worried you'd scream at him that he's having an affair 😬😂

TheBayTreeMurder · 17/04/2023 22:11

The issue with Sir Joe of Wicks is how hypocritical he is. He goes on food binges and openly admits he gives himself gastric issues and diarrhoea. The next day, he's preaching to his followers about how being sleep deprived or working full time is simply a barrier that you yourself are placing before yourself

Just sleep more he says! Just exercise more! Just eat better!

And how we have many many sexualised shots of his wife

She looks amazing of course but his recent comments and stories are just overkill

Rolypolyup · 17/04/2023 22:11

@NeatCompactSleeper ok..maybe slightly deserved 😂

JocelynBurnell · 17/04/2023 22:11

Fitness guru waxing lyrical about fitness.

Who saw that coming? No wonder his followers are upset.

Merryhobnobs · 17/04/2023 22:11

It isn't really a surprise given how derogatory he was about formula feeding. He is tone deaf and just not great at all.

Lcb123 · 17/04/2023 22:12

I think he’s great. So many free YouTube workouts that any one can do in 15 mins. He’s motivating so many people to be active.

QueSyrahSyrah · 17/04/2023 22:15

Should the same attitude be aimed at Gemma Atkinson who regularly posts videos of herself working out while heavily pregnant and (after she'd had her little girl) post-partum? Or are we just picking on Joe because he's a bloke talking about it? Would it be different if Rosie had posted the videos and captions herself? They're both fitness influencers, it's literally what they do 🤔

As for being at the gym all the time, they have a professional quality gym at home and neither has a 9-5 job so I expect it's quite easy for them to each get a couple of hours a day in while the other minds the kids.

As for the 'she's too skinny' comment, have a day off, she's a completely healthy size and shape.

Lcb123 · 17/04/2023 22:15

Shocked by the body shaming on this post.

SemperIdem · 17/04/2023 22:15

I took the “you only need YouTube” to be the acknowledgment that not everyone can have home gyms or go to a gym. You just need to follow fitness videos on YouTube to get fitter.

He’s absolutely right. It’s free! Yet here I am tapping away on MN rather than working on my fitness, in my free time, even though I complain I’m not as toned as I’d like. Which also suggests that Rosie’s privilege is worth rather less than her motivation to actually just do it. Because if I was rich like she was…I’d probably still be sat tapping away on MN, rather than super fit.

StepAwayFromGoogling · 17/04/2023 22:15

I'm 100% sure I did not need to see her arse from many angles.

Exactly.

I have a 4 month old and went back to work at 3 months full time. I was more than ready physically and mentally and I started going back to the gym when he was 8 weeks.

Would everyone feel physically and mentally ready at those stages? No but some do and there isn't anything wrong with that either.

Peapodburgundybouquet · 17/04/2023 22:16

Theluggage15 · 17/04/2023 21:58

He could have just said a simple ‘so proud of Rosie’ or something and and left it there. All the long spiel and arse videos are a bit yuck.

But….he’s a PT! It would be weirder if he didn’t talk about the exercise.

Wildflowermoon · 17/04/2023 22:17

It’s a nice bit of public display of affection for them but it does grate on me slightly that I’m also mum to a newborn.

My day is full of caring for DC2, housework, pumping, sterilising, gardening, laundry, working, cooking and the list goes on.

All of which I’ve no doubt they have the financial comfort to hire help with, to allow time for such luxuries….. bitter much?! :)

AchillesElbow · 17/04/2023 22:18

It feels like she’s under a lot of pressure to exercise and look like this to get Joe’s approval. He’s saying she’s worked hard and now she’s hot. It’s just a bit off. With 3 kids I’d want my husband to love me for me, not for my six pack.

Here's another link

www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/joe-wicks-accused-giving-new-29708484.amp

Basically he has posted photos and videos of his wife, saying how proud he is of how much effort she has made with keeping fit theoughout 3 pregnancies etx. Sleep deprivation etc. and how great she looks 6 months post partum.

AIBU to find it a bit tone deaf?

But what's time deaf about it? She has worked hard at fitness and looks amazing.

mommatoone · 17/04/2023 22:19

Honestly- who gives a shit!
People would moan either way. Leave them alone.
Kids are happy and healthy.
Jog on if you don't like ut

Why can't she be doing it for herself with her husband's support? Not every woman is interested in exercise and fitness to please men.
