Adult female:

Breakfast - bowl of cereal with milk, apple juice
Lunch - chicken toastie with side salad and a few crisps, water
Snack (lunch was early) - beans on toast, 2 biscuits
Dinner - homemade chicken curry and rice with peas, water

Is this too much?

This is a how long is a piece of string question. Depends on how old you are, if you want to lose weight, how active you are, etc etc.

YABU

dementedpixie · 13/04/2023 19:36

Depends on portion size
Doesn't sound like too much to me

DedicatedFollowerOfFashion84 · 13/04/2023 19:37

I would say yes… there’s effectively an extra meal in there under the guise of calling it a snack… beans on toast followed by two biscuits is far more than a snack…

Keepthetowel · 13/04/2023 19:37

Depends on how big the portion sizes are, but seems like quite a lot. Beans on toast could be a full meal if it’s two doorsteps with butter and 3/4 tin beans.

ZebraKid71 · 13/04/2023 19:37

No I don't think so. Beans on toast is a rather substantial "snack" but the day overall doesn't seem excessive.

BansheeofInisherin · 13/04/2023 19:37

It would be too much for me because I am peri-menopausal. Not too much for me even 10 years ago.

Keepthetowel · 13/04/2023 19:37

Also biscuits are scarily high calorie as are toasties and crisps.

Zhougzhoug · 13/04/2023 19:38

Assuming normal portions, no that is an extremely normal day’s food.

Beans on toast is an unusual choice for a between meals snack but it’s not a bad choice, no worse for you than a lot of other things. I eat hummus and oatcakes to tide me over between meals all the time.

Skybluepinky · 13/04/2023 19:39

You need to put portion sizes or no one would be able to advise.

rainbowunicorn · 13/04/2023 19:39

No, it is fine but the loons will be along in a minute to tell you there isn't enough protein adults don't need snacks and that amount of food would last them 3 days 🙄

Weallgottachangesometime · 13/04/2023 19:39

depends on how active you are.
probably one meal too many though, as it looks like you had 2 lunches. I would replace one of those with heathy snacks.

Ace56 · 13/04/2023 19:40

Agree that beans on toast is a bit much for a snack. Especially after a toastie, that’s a lot of bread. Otherwise completely fine imo!

Skybluepinky · 13/04/2023 19:39

You need to put portion sizes or no one would be able to advise.

This is also a good point. Is it a whole tin of beans and 2 slices of bread, or 1/2 and 1 slice. A few crisps with lunch or a whole bag. Could vary quite a lot.

Bobbybobbins · 13/04/2023 19:41

I would say yes apart from the snack

Bobbybobbins · 13/04/2023 19:41

Wait a minute I meant no apart from the snack

Aprilx · 13/04/2023 19:42

I don’t think it is normal to have four meals in a day. Beans on toast and two biscuits is not a snack, it is a meal.

Zhougzhoug · 13/04/2023 19:42

Biscuits are not “scarily” high calorie! There are 72 calories in a hob nob. Why is that scary?

HazyDragon · 13/04/2023 19:44

How can it be too much if you were hungry?

Completely normal amount of food imo.

Emilyjayne9421 · 13/04/2023 19:44

It depends on each person and how many calories they need depending on their weight, height, age. That looks like it could be around the 2000 mark which I don’t think is too much. I have around this amount each day and I’m losing in a deficit - but I’m tall.

tailinthejam · 13/04/2023 19:45

Why are you asking?

The only thing I'd say is that it was a tiny bit carb heavy, and you could have done with some more vegetables in there.

LapinR0se · 13/04/2023 19:45

I have these questions before I can answer yours:

Breakfast - bowl of cereal with milk, apple juice

  • what kind of cereal, what size portion. Milk whole or skimmed? How big a glass of apple juice
Lunch - chicken toastie with side salad and a few crisps, water
  • what was in the chicken toaster with what kind of bread? Was the salad dressed and with what dressing?
Snack (lunch was early) - beans on toast, 2 biscuits
  • size of portions
Dinner - homemade chicken curry and rice with peas, water
  • size of portions
Wishimaywishimight · 13/04/2023 19:46

Beans on toast is another meal, not a snack! Otherwise sounds fine, not too little, not too much.

Snoken · 13/04/2023 19:49

If these are all normal sized portions it would be too much for me and I would gain weight. Had I been 20 years old I probably wouldn’t but I am now peri-menopausal and could not eat so many carbs without gaining. I walk the dogs for 3 hours a day and do a daily 1 hour pilates class but would still not burn all of that off.

adriftabroad · 13/04/2023 19:51

that is not a snack! You had 2 lunches!
